Are they represented in Eclipse Phase? Can you uplift them? And if not, why? I mean, come on. They're elephants.

Re: So... Elephants...
One of those off to side webcomics, Schlock, has them. That being said:
Currently there doesn't seem to be any uplifts of this type.
Sure if your GM will allow you to Uplift them. GM has the final word on what can and can't be uplifted.
The Books say that many things haven't been, because people just don't want to spend the money. If someone will spend the money it will happen.
Now to talk shop about an Elephant Uplift, I would probably say it's a big sized person. Maybe 3-4 meters in height?

Re: So... Elephants...
I haven't seen anything about them. You'd probably need to be set up on an exo-planet before attempting the process; you'd need the space.

Re: So... Elephants...
Yeah speaking more seriously, elephants would not be so great on habitats and consume lots of resources. Maybe on Mars though, for heavy labor that they don't want to just have a machine do...
Elephants are hella smart though, so I imagine they are good candidates for uplifting. Maybe give them +5 COG, +5 INT, +10 SOM or similar.

Re: So... Elephants...
You can never forget the Elephant when it comes to an Uplift. These massive creatures have been examined many times to be uplifted, but several problems kept arising. The main issue was the creature's overall size. Many places are not designed to actually house the uplifts great size. This was overcome by essentially making them walk on their knuckles. The Neo-Elephant will normally walk and interact with the environment while on all four limbs. They use their trunk as a prehensile hand. They normally stand about 2.5 meters tall when like this. The Neo-Elephant can stand on its hind feet and will stand almost 3.8 Meters tall. It can lift a great deal more than a standard biomorph due to its inherent strength. The biomorph does not lack in agility, but its great size does make it an easier target to hit. It's common to see these biomorphs made into walking artillery platforms however.
Implants: Basic Biomods, Basic Mesh Inserts, Cortical Stack, Prehensile Trunk (Counts as Prehensile Tail), Tusks (Counts as claws without being able to retract)
Aptitude Maximum: 30 (40 for SOM)
Durability: 40
Wound Threshold: 8
Advantages: +5 COG, +5 INT, +10 SOM,
CP Cost: 40
Credit Cost: High
Disadvantages: Large target (+10 to hit in combat)

Re: So... Elephants...
I could see a bunch of uplifted elephants living as boudhist monks in a temple on some exoplanet or under isolated Martian dome.
Medidating and debating the Martian day away.
Uplifted elephants could be good protectors of secrets, hidden under their temple/monasteries

Re: So... Elephants...
There is a whole section of the panopticon dedicated to uplifts.
Might be a worthy read as it covers a wide field of things deal with them in the setting.

Is this elephant uplift thing inspired by Alastair Reynold's Blue Remembered Earth?
Am in the process of reading it. Setting and ideas are interesting but sometimes the characters feel like a white guy is trying to write about black people.

Impressedly: very nice wiki work there
Role playlist I imagine them to be something like the elcor and those elephant monks in Thundercats
Very low tone, baritone almost, and inflection less, no real emotion peering through, so they, like the Elcor, have to describe explicitely what the seek to convey
And now I just have that mental image of a Neo Elephant sentinel working with a Neo octopus sentinel in a famed Expedia show...

Neo-elephant is such a boring morph name! They need something cooler, because everything tends to be called neo-[insert animal here], except for octomorphs and suryas.
How about the ganesha?

Re: So... Elephants...
I admit I had to dig around in the Panopticon to find the name. That was the best source name, but of course it's player based material. It's really easy to change the name, so if a better one comes up I'll fix it!
Back to the wiki wiggling for now. I've still got dozens of things to learn.

Re: So... Elephants...
I seem to recall one of the books saying there were elephant uplifts, but they weren't evacuated during the Fall. There are some elephants in some colonies on Luna (presumably some sort of pygmy elephant). I also seem to recall reading something about an elephant breed or species called the Ganesha or something. (edit: I did. It's something I wrote, for my recommended GM notes for Continuity :P So no elephant morph.)

Probably not very practical in normal EP situations (c.f., space bear), but then, so is being a whale.

Not to mention drunken sun whales...
What will we do with a drunken sun whales, what will do with a drunken sun whale? What will we do with a drunken sun whale early in the morning?
Seriously, now, I think that Neo elephants, wit their natural edetic memories would make awesome information brokers NPCs
Teachers, too. And bouncers, as well.

By the way, not trying to discourage anyone. This game is about possibilities, not restrictions.
And the neural architecture needed for long range seismic communication has got to have some interesting possibilities if you change the inputs from sound to radiation.

Re: So... Elephants...
I'll just suggest somethin else that is a bit off the wall, here.
Uplifted Horses.
Horses aren't stupid, they have about the intelligence of a five year old. So they are probably uplift-able.
The biggest obstacle is most likely their tiny short-term memory- Their short-term memory only lasts three seconds before something is forgotten. Kinda difficult to train them at times, due to that.
Otherwise, you have a sensitive digestive tract (Very fixable) as well as being a quadraped (Also very fixable)
A new possibility.

I don't know, the only thing that would make me shit my pants more than being charged at by an uplifted elephant with combat mods is being charged at by an uplifted whale on robotic limbs… with combat mods.
Seriously, can you imagine that?

Well in the same sense 40 is
Well in the same sense 40 is about average for many morphs. Furies stand in at 50. Salamanders at 60. Giant Sun Space Whales at 100. The Eye's "Kiyo" has 120. That being said, would a higher durability suit it better? I can imagine that it would myself. I also need to add the Space bear to morphs soon.

I would absolutely bump up
I would absolutely bump up the Durability, at least to 70 or 80. Unless these are low-mass space elephants or something (which the -10 suggests they are not).

Also, given space constraints
Also, given space constraints, I imagine most elephant morphs will be outfitted with things like specialized digestive tracks and temperature tolerance to permit them to exist on exo-planets. There just aren't a lot of places you can buy an elephant-sized flat around Sol these days.

Changes:
Changes:
Increased Durability to 70
Increased Wounds to 10
CP Cost increased to 70
Cost increased to Expensive
Added following mods:
Temperature Tolerance, Direction Sense, Enhanced Hearing, Eidetic Memory
At this point this thread should probably be moved to the Homebrew Section of the forum.

I didn't even notice the cost
I didn't even notice the cost before. I'd consider giving it a minimum cost, probably of about 40k. That's a big critter, it's going to be resource intensive.

One of the things I mention
One of the things I mention in the fluff for it is that when it's walking on all fours it is 2.5 Meters Tall. This is done so it can fit in most habitats with some ease, not all doors will be made elephant wide. The second notion would be that when actually standing that it would reach 3.8 Meters. It's pretty big, but not Kiyo Big.
Adjusted the cost again:
CP: 50
Credit Cost: [Expensive] (Minimum 30,000+)
