Laser Pulser

Is it a pistol (as implied in a few places and characters) or is it a rifle (as implied by it's medium size)? Or is it just a really big pistol, that can't really be concealed?

Well, according to the book, it is the size of a small dog, or a small assault rifle... Given that its possible to build it into one's hand, it should be possible to miniaturize a laser pulser too, at the expense of reducing it's capacity from 100 to say, 10 shots.

I looked things up, according to the book medium is:

Medium size items are cumbersome to hold with one hand, ranging from the size of a 2-liter bottle to the size of a medium dog. They do not fit in pockets, but they may be concealed by larger coverings. (p 297)

The book is also pretty clear that a weapon is usually spelled out as two-handed in it's description;

Quote:
Any weapon noted as two-handed requires two hands (or other prehensile limbs) to wield effectively. This applies to some archaic melee weapons (large swords, spears, etc.) in addition to certain larger firearms and heavy weapons. Any character that attempts to use such a weapon single-handed suffers a –20 modifier. This modifier does not apply to mounted weapons. (p 206)

The pulser is not called out as two handed. So, I'm guessing this is still a 'pistol' in the strictest sense, but it's big and you are not concealing it. It would be intimidating, but everyone knows it's a laser pulser and thus not really dangerous. Unless you're naked. But I could see it being a popular law enforcement weapon just for the flash-bang stun effect.

I get what you're saying, but all I can imagine is one of those big-ass laser pistols from Star Wars, like Han Solo and Boba Fett were fond of.
