Using SpaceEngine as inspiration for adventures and background scenery.
I posted about SpaceEngine before, but got no response at all. Since a new, improved version came out with much more content and better visuals I have the opportunity to do so again. For those not in the know, SpaceEngine is a game/simulator of the universe. Most of it is completely generated although some objects are based on known observations(all real stars are there, plus ones generated, but planets are generated in 99%). The program allows for creation of stunning imagery, that I find very inspirational, and can be an excellent tool to improve Pandora Gate expeditions by providing and overall image of the planet the explorers find themselves on-either by previously send observational satellite or high altitude device. Besides standard planets and images, sometimes you can encounter real gems, like the skyline of a planet near a black hole, or with the view of galaxy above it. To provide you with sample of what the program can do: http://spehs.imgur.com/all/ And the program itself: http://en.spaceengine.org/ Be warned...I find it very addictive and sometimes spend hours just traveling through space and discovering new planets.

Looks good but my OS seem to dislike it so I'll have to work on smoothing the problem... 8-)
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.

Yeah sometimes configuring the specs can be a problem... But the result is worth the effort: Here's a clip showing "a moon orbiting a ringed gas giant in a brown dwarf binary system, just outside the Andromeda galaxy" and its sunset and sunrise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN7P1zZKlMM
