New to EP
Hi everyone. I'm new to Eclipse Phase and just had a quick question. I saw the game a while back and must admit that while intrigued the price of the rulebook put me off. However I really couldn't get it out of my head so I came around the website, checked out the QSR and lurked on the forums a bit and now from what i am seeing this is a game I want to get in on. I have found a used rulebook but it has a Catalyst Games logo on it rather than the PostHuman logo. I understand that it is still a "real" rulebook, but are there any real differences outside of the logo? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, William

Re: New to EP
I'm not an expect on old books. However, I suspect that book could be from the first printings... If thats the case, the rules would then be considered out of date. The latest books are the 3rd printings. I wouldn't know the specifics as to what has changed. You can probably find them here though: http://eclipsephase.com/resources Scroll down until you see errata. That should help you.

I have a Catalyst version myself. It's the first printing and the most out of date. There is some newer artwork and included errata in the Posthuman Studios edition so pick that up if you have the option but some stores are marking down the Catalyst print due to time passed. If you can get a Catalyst print at a discount then go for it, just make sure to download the errata linked above.

I've GMed with the Catalyst version for a year and had no problem (true, back then that was the only printing available), so go for it. Download the faqs and errata lists, and you should be more than ready to enjoy the game. Of course, if you can get your hands on later versions, that would save you time. Welcome aboard!

Re: New to EP
This probably doesn't matter much, but I found out where the book says what printing it is. For the core rule book, it should be on page 5 on the middle right side of the page. I have files for both the second and third printing of the core rule book (which are consistent with the above statement), but not the first printing (so I can't verify if that printing is also consistent). For the other books, they seem to keep the printing or version info in a similar location, just after the table of contents. The adventures don't seem to have table of contents, but they seem to keep the information on the first page that isn't the cover. The adventure "Glory" breaks this pattern by keeping the information on the last page.

You probably already know this, but just to make sure... The game is creative commons licensed: you can download the rules as pdfs for free.

Is there a list of the changes and erratas between printing somewhere; please? I think I have the 3 versions or at least 1st and 3rd; and would like to see (easierly than by comparing text to text) how the rules evolved as it is interesting from a gameplay perspective.
