Wounds/Traumas
So I picked up the game because it sounds awesome and i'm loving the rules that i've read so far. I do have a question about the wounds/traumas. I know that the morph can take only so much damage before it dies, but as far as I can find it doesn't say anything about how many wounds or traumas one can take before dying. The -10 penalty to tests from each wound/trauma is pretty severe and I like that, i'm just wondering if the wounds taken get added to the damage the character has taken already, or if there is a seperate count for wounds as it would make sense that you can take less wounds before dying than damage. Thanks for the help.

Wounds and Traumas are counted separately from physical and mental damage. They also can’t kill you or make you totally insane – only physical and mental damage does that. They just give you modifiers. You can read more about it at p.207 and 209 of core rulebook. Also - check previous threads. There's a lot of helpful information there.

Alright, that clears it up a bit. But if someone takes a wound, do they still recieve the damage also, or just suffer the wound?

Re: Wounds/Traumas
Both. You receive damage and if your wound treshold is exceeded you also receive a wound. If the treshold is exceeded twice, thrice etc. you get two, three or more wounds. Combat in EP is quite deadly. That's the reason most people wear multiple layers of armour and make copies of their minds often.

Fancy. Thanks for the help. I'm excited to run my first game now! (love me some deadly combat in games)

The first time I ran an EP game, I thought each damage point was a wound... whoops! XD Combat in EP is quite fast, and I saw a player take down three enemies in a single salvo (full auto shredder in a ship corridor = enemy kebab), but that was just once, all NPCs now spread XD.

I remember one of our games, when for some reason the combat situation became so chaotic and convoluted that such a conversation occured: 'Am I dead?' 'I don't know. Are you?' 'Is he?' 'OK, let's count it again...' 'Argh! No, please, no!' 'Screw this. I'm dead.' 'But you might not be...' 'No, seriously, I'm dead. I tell you.'

Hmm, wounds and traumas doesn't kill/drive you mad... I just realized how a truly nasty person might use this to carefully induce loads of them, while keeping lost damage/stress low... for torture reasons. The victim cannot do anything due to the crippling pain and mauling, yet they remain alive. "What is that *thing*?!" "One of Mr Kieu's last victims. Apparently it took him a week to break it up like that." "It moves... is it aware?" "I'm not a monster. The brain is too distorted for any egobridge to fit, so I couldn't get the ego out. Instead I added permanent sedation." "But why..." "I like looking at it. It is unique, precious." -From surveillance record 397000-4743A, Carnival of the Goat, LTB Deck
