amazon.com?
Is the book going to (ever?) be sold via amazon.com?
RobBoyle RobBoyle's picture
Yes, when it is available,

Yes, when it is available, it will also be available through Amazon.

Any chances for a preorder?
Any chances for a preorder? Maybe even cheaper, as it is with Shadowrun 20th anniversary edition? :)

We don't have any control

We don't have any control over how Amazon does their listings, sorry.

Re: amazon.com?
Odd. It was up for a bit, now amazon says "out of print"

Re: amazon.com?
I had a similar issue with some Earthdawn books recently. It seems that Amazon sometimes gets 'old numbers' for products and doesn't get updates regularly. When they figure out what's going on - usually after some of their Marketplace partners are selling the product - they eliminate the old entry (or call it out of print) and start up a new slot. I love ordering from Amazon, but I hate pre-ordering from them...

Re: amazon.com?
Ordered 3 copies from Amazon last week, got them today, in time for the weekend! YEY! =)

Re: amazon.com?
Glad you had luck with it. I ordered 2 copies direct from the publisher's website (BattleCorps' BattleShop), and it's been sitting at "pending" for a week. Also after 3 business days when I hadn't seen any change in the status I sent an email asking if there were any problems, etc., and still haven't heard back from them. Starting to become an unhappy EP customer.

Re: amazon.com?
I've had the same problem with BattleShop. My order was placed on August 22, and I haven't heard anything since the "processing" stage. Last night I sent a request asking for information on the delay. No response so far... Anyone else having problems with Battleshop?

Re: amazon.com?
I placed my order on Battleshop a few days after release, waited a week with no movement, then upon inquiring, eventually got a response saying they were just getting some pre-orders out and it would be processed 'soon'. In the meantime, my FLGS actually had a copy so I bought it there and cancelled the order. 2 weeks later and still waiting for my credit. Not happy, unlikely to order through Battleshop again.

Re: amazon.com?
To be quite honest, if I hadn't already had a chance to look through the PDF and see that this does really look like an interesting game, not only from the fluff but also a mechanics standpoint, I doubt I'd even consider supporting the line at this point. I know that it's not the fault of the writers, editors, etc. that the online store is screwing up this badly, not only just with the delays in processing orders but the fact that their customer service is horrendous, but this is just a horrible business practice in a small niche market. I've sent emails to different addresses listed on their contact page, and even giving them the 1-2 business days they say it will take to get a reply, I've still heard nothing. If this is how they've always run things, I'm frankly surprised they're still in business.

Re: amazon.com?
Keep in mind the difference between the game and the publisher/distributor. It's an awesome game (IMHO) and has tremendous potential. There are plenty of other outlets than Battleshop - just use one of them.

Re: amazon.com?
Well, I ended up sending a SECOND request for information a few days ago (3 days after my first one) and heard back from the "quartermaster" last night that "We ship orders in the order that they were received. I will get your order shipped out to you tomorrow." 24 hours later, and no change on my order status >:| I'm starting to feel like he's making empty promises, but I'll give Battlecorps the benefit of the doubt. (For a few more days...) So far I've waited 21 days, sent two emails (just asking for information/order status as opposed to asking that I be placed ahead of people that ordered earlier), paid upfront (as opposed to paying when the item is actually shipped i.e., Amazon.com), and only received that response in return. (Oh, and that order was actually placed October 22 and not on August 22 like I posted the first time :x) Octomorph, please let us know if you ever manage to get that credit. I might go the same route if Battlecorps doesn't shape up.

Well, I ordered two books from them (one for me, one for a friend). If I could cancel my order and get a refund, I would go that route in an instant. As I said, I've looked through the PDF and liked what I saw. However, I've already "paid", and I don't want to eat a $120 loss if I can't get a refund, or they finally get around to shipping me books that (by that point, if I just bought them elsewhere) I no longer need and won't be able to recoup any of the loss. I don't like the game enough to buy two extra copies just to have. And even if they do ship orders in the order they're received, it shouldn't take them this long to get a simple book order out, much less actually -respond- to emails and actually give some useful information. I'd even accept an email that said, "We're just really slammed right now, it'll be a few weeks before we can ship your book," but to be stuck in some sort of online retail limbo where they have already taken my money and then to get no product, no contact, no anything...as far as I'm concerned, that's akin to being robbed.

I couldn't have said it better myself! I was also wondering what relationship Catalyst has with Battlecorps... They were recommended on the "Order Eclipse Phase" page, (As if the product was actually being sold by Catalyst themselves, no less!), so I assumed there was a particular reason why they were mentioned. Does anybody know?

Re: amazon.com?
That's just it. Posthuman Games is Eclipse Phase. Catsalyst is the licensed publisher and Battlecorps is Catalyst's web store. Distribution is Catalyst's issue, not Posthuman. Please don't get the sense that I'm defending Battlecorps in any way - I'm still out $60+ from them - and expecting my refund, but they are not the creators of the game.

Aaaahhh, ok. That explains a lot! I guess I thought Catalyst Game Labs developed AND published Eclipse Phase since their logo is so hard to miss. Reading the trademark/CC information clears that right up! EDIT: Well, I just received a shipping update from Catalyst/Battlecorps. My order shipped today (11/12). 22 days late, but it looks like my copy is finally on its way! I guess the quartermaster wasn't kidding about my order going out.

Good deal! Hopefully I'll have the same luck, was in contact with them today myself and saw that my order got progressed to "processing"...although hopefully I won't have to wait 22 days until shipping too! :D

Re: amazon.com?
Hey guys, sorry to hear about any troubles with the Battleshop. I'm far removed from that end of the biz, so I'm not sure what the hold-up is, but I've pinged the folks over there to see what's going on and hopefully get them to respond to you guys soon. Your patience is appreciated!

Thanks for the assist. I still plan on purchasing the book, just getting a little frustrated at the lack of communication and all. And being honest, when the supplements start coming out I won't be ordering directly from BattleShop again.

Thanks for the response! I guess I'm somewhat calmed after getting my order to actually ship, but the delay and lack of communication were really unacceptable. My group has been waiting for weeks to get a game going, but I wanted a printed copy sitting next to me before I start. Hopefully I might be able to convince some of them to cough up for the supplements if everything goes well. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be ordering through Battlecorps again either.

Re: amazon.com?
Got the notice my books also shipped, finally. Here's hoping I'll have my dead-tree version by the weekend!
