Swarmanoid and 360 degree vision
Why don't Swarmanoid morphs have 360 degree vision? I don't think you'd need to have all the swarm-bots facing the same direction at the same time. What does everyone else think?

That would be a perfectly reasonable extra to buy for your morph, sure. If you don't buy it, then the ego can only pay attention to so much of its sensory input at once, I'd say.

Re: Swarmanoid and 360 degree vision
If one wish to justify a "lesser" vision, the individual ego might be unable to handle such visual information, information overload. I could also argue that a swarm would have a vision that is greater. It could get the area of a sphere in visiongrid rather than a two dimensional circle grid (360 degree). I dont know a what to call this greater vision in a short term. 360 squared degree vision, perhaps. Sensors situated at the outer surface in a swarm shape of globe might offer the "fullest" vision of the outside. But sensors might view from the inside of the swarm too.

Whoa. Seeing the whole light field. Now that is something that *requires* a serious upgrade of the visual cortex, which in our normal human form is shaped like a warped version of our retina (less area devoted to the peripheral parts of the eye, more to the focal part). For 360 degree vision you either squeeze the input into that cortex or you have to add extra area to process it in the brain. Which might make sense, given that you likely have to add extra drivers and cortex to handle multilimbed or strange bodies too. The full 3D vision would require an entirely new structure of the visual system. A bit of a challenge. One of the more memorable scenes in a previous campaign involved a PC sleeving into what was essentially a nanoswarm body. He saw and felt everything... to the extent that he promptly got mad and had to be restored from backup.

I never thought about the needs of the ego to process the information. I love the idea of my players sleeving a nanoswarm and going insane. I'm going to have to keep that one in mind.

Yes lots of potential for information overload. The 3d sensor vision could be presented in less strenuous ways for a normal 180 degree vision cone. for example the ego could see the data as a stretched out map of the globe of real-time visual information. Or like it was immersed in a holocave sphere, looking at the real-time displayed data from within.
