The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
Straight from the depths of my consciousness, some new morphs ready to be dropped right into any game. The Sherlock was my response to one of my players wanting an INT boosting version of the current 40 CP Biomorphs. The Mycroft was the natural progression on the concept. The Zero is simply a rewritten version of a morph I did ages ago, Panopticon introduced some implants that I thought might be fun. --- Sherlock (Bio Morph) Sherlocks are genetically enhanced humans, altered to boost the natural intuitive abilities of its users. Boasting greatly improved perception and investigative prowess, the Sherlock has found its niche amongst police forces across the system, whilst also proving popular with those who depend on their ability to make snap decisions. Implants: Basic Biomods, Basic Mesh Inserts, Cortical Stack, Enhanced Hearing, Enhanced Smell, Enhanced Vision, Aptitude Maximum: 30 Durability: 35 Wound Threshold: 7 Advantages: +5 COG, +10 INT, +5 WIL, +5 to one other aptitude of the player's choice CP Cost: 40 Credit Cost: Expensive --- Mycroft (Sherlock Variant) An upgraded version of the Sherlock morph, the Mycroft utilizes numerous newly developed cognitive tweaks to increase its innate perceptive ability. Implants: Add Oracles, Mental Speed Advantages: Add +20 Perception skill, +20 Investigation skill CP Cost: 70 Credit Cost: Expensive (minimum 40,000) --- Zero (Pod Morph) Zeroes are purposely crippled humans, quickly grown as pods and implanted with numerous devices intended to reduce their quality of life. Commonly used as prison morphs amongst facilities that still physically house their inmates, the existence of Zeroes within the Inner System is a major point of contention for many Outer System inhabitants. Implants: Cortical Stack, Cyberbrain, Life Recorder, Memory Lock, Puppet Sock, Sense Filter (Complete sensorium) Aptitude Maximum: 15 Durability: 20 Wound Threshold: 4 Disadvantages: -5 SOM, -5 WIL, Low Pain Tolerance, Social Stigma (Pod), Zero-G Nausea CP Cost: 0 Credit Cost: Moderate

Re: The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
Thanks CodeBreaker. I love the concept of the Zero =)

I love the Zero concept. Brilliant!

Re: The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
If we're using Sherlock and Mycroft as a framework, then shouldn't Mycroft be less agile? Sherlock is a Field unit, where as Mycroft is a Lab unit. Just an idea.

Re: The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
I kinda picture the Mycroft to be rather shubby, but designed for forensics and academic activities, or maybe politics related to law enforcement. (kinda like Stephen Fry's Mycroft in the two Sherlock Holmes movies) I love the Zero concept really freaky subtext wise.

Re: The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
While I also imagine the Mycroft as being chunkier than the Sherlock, I couldn't really think of a way to explain why they might actually be that way. I guess it could be a hormonal side effect of the cognitive tweaks. On having an active aptitude reduction, like a -5 COO or something, I really do not like assigning them when I can avoid it. While it adds flavour, it also restricts the morph quite a lot. I guess I could add the Unfit negative quality instead. Mycroft (Sherlock Variant) An upgraded version of the Sherlock morph, the Mycroft utilizes numerous newly developed cognitive tweaks to increase its innate perceptive ability. Unfortunately, these tweaks also affect the morphs hormonal balance, which commonly manifests itself as an uncontrollable weight problem. Aptitude Maximum: 30 (20 COO, 20 REF, 20 SOM) Implants: Add Oracles, Mental Speed Advantages: Add +20 Perception skill, +20 Investigation skill Disadvantages: Add Unfit (2) CP Cost: 60 Credit Cost: Expensive (minimum 40,000)

Re: The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
I'm not sure there is a market for the Zero. The Jovian Republic does not normally practice forced uploading as a punishment, meaning they cannot use the Zero, and they are one of the last places with physical prisons. I suppose a few brinker colonies might use them, but I'm not sure who else.

Re: The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
There is actually a reference or two to Zero like morphs in the Core rulebook. One is within the Ultimate stronghold of Xiphos, 'Although there are no reports of any of these indentures returning, rumor has it that the ultimates download indentures serving in sensitive areas into zeroes—deaf, visually limited flats with no mesh implants and limited mental capacity. ' Although they would probably be fairly rare, there is still some market for a physically restricted, cheap morph that can have its sensorium controlled. For one, it is biological, and so in the minds of many biochauvinists they are inherently superior. I imagine them being primarily used as a form of punishment, but nothing prevents a wealthy but prejudiced Lunar hypercorporate from sleeving his personal indentured secretary in one. They are cheap enough, and as pods can be mass produced with ease.

Re: The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
One thing I think should be noted is that if there was a place that had morphs specifically for housing inmates, I would go with a synthmorph rather than pod. Pods still need food, and are in many ways far more high maintenance. Plus, a synthmorph is much more useful in regards to keeping your inmates in line; guy getting too rough with other inmates? Dismantle his limbs. No genitals means no prison rape. Lastly, it opens up the potential for a new implant; cyberbrain killswitch. Nothing would beat the ability to remotely shut down an inmate's mind for the purposes of keeping them in line. Plus, I'd imagine them actually having high SOM, but with servo limiters that prevent them from moving quickly. This way they could be used for labor tasks, but not actually use violence on others to hurt them.

Re: The Sherlock, Mycroft and Zero
I'd say the flats on Xyphos are mostly a rumor purposely distributed as a memetic warfare move against the Ultimates. I see them using the indentureds in something more like the Warhammer 40k Servitors (specially if they are affixed to their place) and maybe on botched expeeriments on biomorphs.
