EP at Templecon - Feb 2012
Both jackgraham and I will be running games at the upcoming TempleCon in Rhode Island the first weekend in February. All the games we're running are new or very close to it (no Glory or Bump in the Night this year...) and are going to cover slightly different ground than many of the other con scenarios and should be enjoyable for new and veteran players alike. I'll let Jack post in his own inimitable style about what sessions he's got planned, but here's what I've submitted for events: Interference This is it. After months of cautious back and forth and a few trial actions it's finally time to meet your handler and embark on your first full mission for Firewall, the scattered conspiracy fighting to keep transhumanity from falling or pushing itself to extinction. You're meeting the rest of your team on Locus - a major anarchist station far from the inner system government and corporate control - but all the quasi-legal activity there that was meant to give you cover becomes the first real test of your skill as things go dreadfully wrong before your mission even begins. Players new to Eclipse Phase will have a chance to experience the wonder and wild potential that is transhumanity's hope for survival and chance at destruction by their own hands and the many individuals and conspiracies looking to tip things one way or another. EP veterans will enjoy a game where they can explore some of the more extreme social and ideological movements the setting presents. Due to some thematic elements this session is not recommended for players under 16. Laissez les bon temps roulez - Joue avec moi, part I (This is part one of a two-part event. Players can sign up for one or both, but playing in one session is not necessary to fully enjoy the other) This was going to be the best babysitting job ever. An (extraordinarily wealthy) anonymous client hired you and a few others to accompany their spoiled nephew and his hangers-on around a grand tour of the system to - in their words - broaden his horizons, open his eyes and shut his damn mouth. You're getting an impressive amount of credits and rep when all is said and done and the chance to play with some very expensive toys along the way so it seemed like rare opportunity. You knew it's wasn't going to be a cakewalk, but when the first stop turns out to be a trip back to the family estate on an Earth still crawling with TITAN remnants, nano-plagues and a destroyed environment you realize you might not be getting paid enough. This session lets players embark on something few transhumans are able to do - visit the ruins of Earth after the Fall. New players and those already familiar with EP will find an exciting and challenging opportunity to see the ashes of the past and what they might mean for the future. M'aidez - Joue avec moi, part II (This is part two of a two-part event. Players can sign up for one or both, but playing in one session is not necessary to fully enjoy the other) After the events on Earth the tour continues as a more subdued Damien Bourequat drags his chaperones and hangers-on to Mars for some mindless self-indulgence and as little of the scheduled business as possible. His temporary guardians must be cautious though, as Damien's own attitude and the machinations of someone close to him put them all in the midst of intrigues that others are more than willing to kill over. With motivations and allegiances suspect, can you save Damien from himself and those around him before his fate impacts the lives of tens of thousands of others? This session takes both new and veteran players to the upper reaches of inner-system privilege and gives them a view over the masses it is built upon. It will take both social skills and a quick trigger finger to navigate the dangers hidden around Damien and to escape the long shadow of the TITANs. Final scheduling hasn't been announced on the TempleCon site yet, but should be up in the next week or two. Speaking from my own experience TempleCon is always a fantastic weekend at a great venue with a really varied list of events and I encourage anyone to come check it out even if you don't plan on sitting down with us for a session. Hope to see you there, Than

Barring conflicts with my Warmachine schedule, I look forward to any opportunities to play Eclipse Phase. I would also like to confirm Than's statements of how awesome Templecon is. I've been going to for years now and it has only improved in quality.

*Edited to update a time correction for Interference. I got confirmation for event times for our games. (Jack's have been confirmed but I'll give him a few more days before I post blurbs about them for him ;) My run times are: Interference: Friday 10 PM - 2 AM Joue, pt. 1 Saturday 2 - 6 PM Joue, pt. 2 Sunday 2 - 6 PM. Jack's run times are: THE JUSTIFIERS: Friday 2 - 6 PM (I like to think this is an ops team composed solely of 20th century postmodernists, but sadly it isn't...) Tierra y Libertad Saturday 5:30 - 9:30 PM They don't have the rpg events up for pre-reg yet as they're posting whole categories en bloc - minis and baordgames are currently up, rpgs, seminars and other special events are yet to come - but this gives you a bit of planning data. Hopefully we'll see bunches of you there and get a chance to play together. (Maybe even with some other special events that we aren't talking about yet...)
