so the game launch went well. everyone (save one player) had their character sheets completed. I had one player who was not well prepared, and we had to knock out the last half of the character sheet real quick. Finer points and details were left until later, much brow beating and loss of gamer rep score was inflicted. There was a brief discussion at the start of game concepts, general terminology and some passing around of handouts and the like. I had taken the time to make sure everyone had a copy of the quick start rules on PDF file (mine was loaded on the iPad, and two other group members did the same). plenty of copies of the rulebook itself too, both in digital format and dead tree. So there was no lack of reference material to be had for anyone who needed to look something up. The setting was Olympus, with everyone meeting a Firewall contact in a deliberately tacky bar in downtown Olympus called 'Rick's cafe': "you wander down a well lit street, following the directional map on your entopic disiplay. Bright AR ads for everything from noodles to the latest in sex XP and small arms leap out at you from passing store fronts. your entopics flash with light, color, sound and even smells. Following your display, you push through a line of passing sythmorph infugees and find yourself in a small dive bar off the main strip. stepping inside, your AR display washed into a simple black and white overlay, with the smell of cheap whiskey and cigar smoke lingering in the back of your throat. The slightly off key sounds of an old song from dead earth trickle into your feed and you realize that this place has to be one of the most deliberately tacky bars you've ever seen in your life."
