Weaponized ego bridge
I was doing some more reading today, and I noticed that something I was planning carries a wrinkle. Ego bridges require a healing vat to sleeve a new ego into a biomorph, but I was planning to have a team ambush and take over morphs. So, my thought is that I will have them use a modified ego bridge which carries its own supply of nanogel. This ego bridge would wrap around the target's head much like a facehugger, supplying the nanobots with the wet environment they require to rebuild the morph's brain. It feels like there should be more to this, though. I'm missing something. Any ideas?

Re: Weaponized ego bridge
Dont forget to immobilize the victim properly: shaking brains during nanosurgery is a bad thing. And essentially what an egobridge is doing is rebuilding the brain from scratch out of itself. It will not look pretty either.

Sedatives. Apply sedatives during the face hug. That or make a roll against consciousness or something.

Re: Weaponized ego bridge
something like ultra-low frequencies sound waves could incapacitate someone's body. nanoscopic speakers along each of the legs/tentacles, broadcasting the infrasound directly through the skin and bone of the victim will work as well, and isn't limited in quantity like sedative compound would be

Re: Weaponized ego bridge
As I see it, an ego bridge performs two different actions, one being to read the ego contained and the other being write the brain with the provided ego. Actually, add a third one: Clearing of the cortical stack. Anyway, for the reading process the ego bridge would require almost no time compared to the writing process, most likey it will take about 30 minutes and require no gel or vat (yeah, the quickest way is to pop out the cortical stack. That tends to be bad for the morph, though XD) for a biomorph, about 5 mins for a pod, and a few seconds for a synthmorph. It's the writing process the one requiring most time and the gel, since we are talking about breaking all the connections between neurons and forming new ones. And if I remember right, there is enough neurons inside a human's brain to make a line between Earth and the Moon's surfaces. So... woah XD. As for the inmovility, which I think is a requirement for both reading and writing, I bet the ego bridge comes with a "lock system" that prevents any transmission from the brain to any part of the body (and of course the ego bridge will provide the necessary signals for the autonomous parts of the body, like respiration, heartbeat, etc..., assuming, of course, that those don't have their own localized control subsystems). Of course, the mere weaponization of a "grab the neck, neutralize the body" device would be as simple as a hand-held taser-like gun that would sever the spine connection (under or above the cortical stack) and keep the life functions going, requiring a healing vat to repair the damage to the biomorph (for pods and synthmorphs, it's enough to use a somehow similar device that should be inserted into one of the access jacks and block the artificial systems, similar to the ones we can see in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1 & 2). Then you can copy the ego out, or kidnap the whole morph... and identity.
