The cool thing is that it approximates continuous values, rather than acting as a discrete logic circuit. Formally, they are not that different in power, but in practice this is a good design for handling real-world inputs in synthetic biology. I doubt it is useful to make DNA-AI, but adding fuzzy logic controllers to synbio creatures is always nice.
