Can you replace the biological brain of a biomorph with a cyberbrain? I know that this treads on Pod territory to some degree, but if someone wants to have the benefits (and accepts the drawbacks) of a cyberbrain, can it be installed in the more common biomorph models? For example, can an Exalt or Remade morph be rewired to have a cyberbrain?

Re: Brain-swapping... can it be done?
IMHO it should be possible with ease, but it would lead to the morph switching to pod category, as pods encompass all partly biological morphs with cyberbrains.

Could the reverse be done with synthmorphs? Could you place a biological brain (along with the necessary life-supporting features) into a sythmorph body like an arachnoid?
These are mostly 'possiblity questions' as there's little to be gained from having a biological brain in a synthmorph - unless the occupant ego has Psi or is worried about getting brainhacked.

Yes to the first, no to the second; you can very well implant a cyberbrain into a biomorph, and it is even listed in the implant section for just such a purpose. However, you cannot implant a biological brain into a synthmorph, because a synthmorph simply doesn't have the necessary parts to keep it alive (circulatory system, digestive tract... just to name a couple). It would probably not be worth it to do so, either (you would start to lose all the advantages of being a synthmorph, for what amounts to little or nothing).
No, pods are a specific breed of biomorph which is manufactured... that is it's organic parts are grown independently and it is assembled, rather than going from infant to adult as normal biomorphs are made. They are factory-assembled meat bodies.
This is a slightly different scenario.—

Re: Brain-swapping... can it be done?
Would the biomorph with cyberbrain still gain the usual bonuses to COG, INT, SAV, and WIL that it would have gained from the biomorph's bio-brain? There's nothing to suggest otherwise, but some of those bonuses should have come from improvements in the wetware that is going to be scooped out and replaced with the cyberbrain. If you can just build a cyberbrain with those improvements, then why not take it out and reinstall it in another morph (like taking a Remade cyberbrain and putting it into a Synth)?
Also, shouldn't it be easy enough with EP tech to create the necessary life support module for an organic brain? Shadowrun allows for this with the cyborg (jarhead) rules, and its tech level is much lower. As for why - the increased protection from brainhacking and increased ease of use with synthmorph bodies by Psi characters are about the only things I can think of as positives.

Re: Brain-swapping... can it be done?
Good question. I'd find that a tough one to answer off the bat, but as of right now I'd say there's no reason to punish your players for such a modification. I might say that the cyberbrain has to be custom-made for the body in which it will be inserted (synched to its synaptic speed, tailored to its structure), which renders it immediately incompatible with other bodies (Thus making it impossible to use a remade cyberbrain in a synth morph, as you used for an example).
As for the last part, we may very well see such technology in a future release. Remember that this is just the first of many books for this game. That said, I still see a few problems in such a jarhead system (Shadowrun cyborgs do require maintenance and such to keep functioning). To that end, such a system would probably not be totally immune to brainhacking like a biomorph, because you might still need a puppet sock to connect the biological brain to the synth body (and that puppet sock can still be hacked). The only real advantage I can see would be the usage of psi.

Re: Brain-swapping... can it be done?
I do think it'd be possible to place a biological brain into a synthmorph, given certain concessions. You could construct a system to sustain the brain via nutrient injection and artificial circulation. The question really is "why would you want to?" Your brain would be largely unhackable, but your body would still be vulnerable (via the necessary interface between biological brain and synthetic body), and you'd be sacrificing one of the great advantages of the Synthmorph (low maintenance).

I think that putting a biological brain in a sythetic "prosthetic" body would be a great "game flavor" element, even if there were no statistical advantages, or even some penalty. This could be very useful for any character who has reservations about ego copying and resleeving but also wants to live a greater than normal life span.
