Helping EP grow, an idea

I think I can assume we all want EP to grow and prosper, right? well, here's an idea I've had on the subject that seems to be OK under the license: 1. Run games of EP at conventions. 2. Announce "free prizes" to all players. 3. After the game, give everyone a CD with the EP pdf and license burned onto it. 4. Repeat as often as possible. Now from the filesharing and such it's obvious that the game can be shared, but make sure to explain this to the guy running gaming at your con lest he think you're violating copyright laws in some way. Blank CDs are dirt cheap these days, and most computers now have at least a CD burner, so this is feasible for more EP players and might help rope in new players.

I've been hoping to run a game at my local gaming store, but I want to wait until the dead tree edition comes out before pitching it to them... ideally, I'd like to run a game or two and get the players to buy from said gaming store.

Well, not to get any hopes up but I am going to a convention this weekend, and I plan to take a copy of the EP rules with me to give to a writer I know who was part of a successful SF series that began life as a RPP a long, long time ago. He's heavy into libertarianism and I'd like to get him to at least read pgs 58-59 to see about the libertarians in the belt and beyond, and the autonomist alliance. I'd like to get him interested in EP as an idea for writing some libertarian based SF, and maybe he might eve interest his writer pals in doing EP fiction. The chances are not good, but this guy has had a hell of a lot of luck with one SF book series that began as an RPG he played with his writing buddies, so maybe I can get him hooked on the idea of writing libertarian SF stories set in this universe, which would help him and EP. I doubt it'll work out, but it won't cost me much to try and if it works I help a writer who I know and help a game I like and admire the writers of for their marketing effort. So hey, if, down the road, a SF writer contacts you about doing a series of stories set in the EP universe and centering on the libertarian sectors, well remember me.
