Denver, CO, USA
Hi Everyone, Thus far I'm enthralled with Eclipse Phase, and I am not one that's easily enthralled. That said, I'm wondering if there are any interested parties in the Denver metro area. Mon-J

Re: Denver, CO, USA
I should probably mention that I have an existing group and we're going to give Eclipse Phase a shot in our session next month - we don't exactly get to play often but I'm trying to change that. That said, one or two more players would be a nice addition to our rotating cast of "who can make it THIS time, fellas?" We're all working professionals with busy lives, so we don't take all of this too seriously. In fact, we call ourselves a "Beer League" rp group. The experience runs the gamut, from guys that just started roleplaying a year ago to guys (like myself) that have been doing it since the Carter administration. We're a tech-savvy group but aside from the GM's laptop, we're keeping it old school with dice bags, pencils, and battle mats ... for now. There are too many spectacular tools around to ignore them all, but sometimes the gadgets get in the way. Please feel free to PM me here if you're interested.

Re: Denver, CO, USA
We finally got everyone together at the table for character generation and getting a feel for the game just this past Thursday. We are attempting a "come as you are, show up if you can, we are going to run every 2 weeks come hell or high water" brute-force attack on what little free time we seem to have. We are planning our next session for 12/23, 1800. There's still an open slot or two, if anyone harbors some interest and has yet to decide to join. I see that a number of folks have read the thread at least....

I'm in Denver and have just discovered Eclipse Phase. I'd be interested in playing in a game to see what' it's like.

Awesome, we shall commence with the transfer of information via the private mesh.

Anyone else in Denver? This group is apparently full.

Re: Denver, CO, USA
It's true, the group is full, and I can't close/delete the post. That said, I would play in another group if the scheduling works out. I'm not convinced any of the other folks in my group would be up for another group, but I certainly am. So that makes 2 of us.

I live in Longmont, CO and am pretty curious about Eclipse Phase. I'm a Bruce Sterling and Alastair Reynolds fan and mostly played D&D in the past as well as some Shadowrun here and there (was always tought finding a group). Kind of far for a regular drive to play IMO but was curious if you guys knew anything about the Eclipse Phase communtiy in the area.

Thus far, the interest within reasonable driving distance is you, me, and Raddu76. There appears to be a vibrant rpg community here so I think that it's all a matter of getting the word out.

I'm also in Longmont, CO - although my regular game group is in Boulder. One of the other fellows in my group lives in Boulder, and is also an Eclipse Phase fan. We've both been itching to play, but know the game would go over like a lead balloon with our regular group.

We played an adventure over two sessions, you can read our comments about it here: http://www.eclipsephase.com/playing-eclipse-phase-rules-crunch#comment-1... I'd still like to give it a try as a player though.

Re: Denver, CO, USA
Hi everyone - checking in again. Ran a test session with my core group here in Longmont - me as GM, had three players (I tweeted an outline of the group's progress). All in all our impressions of it were pretty solid. The only thing that generated confusion in the first session is the opposed roll mechanic - I see in the linked thread and elsewhere that this mechanic generated confusion. Since so many people have gone into it I'm gonna have to dig a bit to see what I think I'll go with long term. My immediate impulse was to just to decrease Attacker MoS by Defender MoS. I don't like the all or nothing mechanic. Weird situations like "You got everything out of the way.... except your head" seem to be covered by the critical mechanic. I like the idea that you can make yourself difficult to hit, maybe keeping a sideways profile and leading with your shoulder, so that you get hit in the arm instead of the face, and I think Fray should cover these sort of combat composure possibilities. I really like the system though. The char gen process is admittedly a bit complex - I think allowing people to re-tweak chars through the first 3-4 sessions is going to be an ongoing thing. The frequently rec'd spreadsheets really simplify the process, though, and I think you get a lot of bang for your buck - chars have to have meaningful backgrounds and skillsets - so anyone who gets through the char-gen process has a character that's roleplay ready, not just mechanics ready. Combat was very slow at first, but by the end of the first combat session, things were going super quick. I feel pretty confident that I can keep combat pace. I also limited the mechanic exposure to my core group - this is basically a combat / intrusion sort of mission (it's actually not too far off Glory - which was entirely an accident, as I hadn't even looked at the copy of Glory that came with my GM screen until after writing my adventure notes. Guess it was just an obvious sort of scenario!) - and I left space flight and more specific hacking stuff to an NPC, where it follows story bullet points, not rolls. All in all, I'm very impressed with the setting and its possibilities. I'll probably open up the core group and try to recruit some other players from here in early September (moving, business trip, and I'd like 2 more games or so with the core group to get confident with the rules to keep a satisfying pace). One thing I'm interested in doing is filming a session or parts of a session and posting it to YouTube. So, if you might be interested in participating in something like that specifically, let me know. I purchased the "Ego Hunter" module a little while back, and that or something homebrew will probably be my choice if I go through with this.
