Tachyon/Memory engrams
The book keeps saying stuff about programming your mind but so far I haven't found anything that allows you to do just that. There is psycho surgery but I'm talking about ego-programming itself such as adding skills, or at least bonuses to skills via ego programming, or even trading skills. Am I missing on this or should I let you guys see what I have?

Psychosurgery can certainly give you skills (p. 232). But reprogramming the mind is a larger topic (and not so fixed in the rules): skillsofts obviously allows transferrable skills, but the mechanics of making them (likely involving data mining large sets of collected egos) are outside the direct game system. What does tachyons have to do with anything?

Well the Tachyon engram isn't really hard sci fi, which is what I would like to go for. But it would basically allow instant upload of skills, kind of like a skillsoft in SR, but you wouldn't need to have it stored in your commlink or with your Muse, you could have it anywhere. But a memory engram could be emulated the same way, it would just take a little time, kind of like uploading skills in the Matrix movies.

You mean downloading skillsofts to your skillware over the Mesh? I don't see why that should be a problem, unless the server hosting the skills is remote enough that lightspeed delays are a problem. Theoretically you could even do it with a QE link, but I suspect skills are pretty large files and hence prohibitively expensive to get this way.
