RPPR Actual Play - Eclipse Phase
Role Playing Public Radio is a podcast that specializes on both GMing tips and quality Actual Plays, the recording of RPG game sessions. Ross Payton, the man who runs the site and who GMs most of the games, posted an Eclipse Phase AP today. It is two games in one: the first one is a tutorial scenario to get the players immersed in the Eclipse Phase universe set in Earth during the Fall. The second is a run of Glory, the adventure that came with the Eclipse Phase GM Screen. http://actualplay.roleplayingpublicradio.com/2011/03/genre/horror/eclips... Give it a listen, and if you like it make sure to check out the other actual plays, as well as the main podcast which gives tips for GMs to run better games. I finished listening to it this morning and I rather like how their game ran. I will have to re-listen to it and take notes because there are a couple of things that I could change for the better in my own game.

I only got 5 minutes in and turned it off. Their style of play was too casual for me, and the GM wasn't very descriptive.

It's actually thanks to RPPR that I got an interest in this game. I'd heard about it prior, but never had much interest. Now I've got about all the .PDFs I could grab. Enjoying the material immensely, hoping to do something with it eventually. Thanks Ross. Now I've got something else to eat up my free time.

It's true they're very casual, but it's a really a nice way to learn about the game and its system is there any more AP of Eclipse Phase by this gang?

As of yet, nope. But I really, really hope they do more. I love the RPPR crew, and although I agree they play quite casually with the rules and whatnot (They do the same with their D&D podcast, which is amazing), but any regret caused by this is almost entirely nulified by how much I like the players. If Cody gets into this game, my podcast actual play dreams would be fulfilled :D

Oh god, I don't know if I could take that after the last two Monsters games he was in. I couldn't stop laughing. "Oh Giant Brain!"

Re: RPPR Actual Play - Eclipse Phase
hey guys, this is Ross from RPPR. That particular AP was admittedly more casual than I would have liked but I had a challenges in running the game: 1. Learning the system/setting and teaching the players the system. EP is many things but it is not the easiest system or setting to learn. I was more focused on learning the game mechanics than anything else in that AP. 2. Running a written adventure is tricky especially when the players go in directions the scenario doesn't anticipate. Having to refer to the notes Now that I'm more familiar with the system, I will try to run a scenario of my own devising and focus more on immersion, mood and plot. EP is an amazing game and I definitely want to run it again.

Oh great, the GM I dissed shows up and is all polite, apologetic and reasonable. Way to make me feel like an evil shit.
