REZ points on forum games
Hi everybody, I'm new to the game and I have a doubt. Right now I'm playing on a homebrew campaign/rules game. Until recently, there was no game that supported directly my gaming ideas, but by pure chance I discovered EP and now I'm wondering how to pass my game to this rules ^_^ I run my game on a Spanish website dedicated to RPG's (www.comunidadumbria.com) in a Forum-like format ... the problem is : How to apply REZ points based on that format? My last campaign lasted more than an entire year, over the course of that time, players learned a lot of things ... but one has to point that forum games are slower than table top games. I like when players really feel they characters are advancing, but when I look at EP experience gain it seems a low/slow. So ... how would you do it?

Every ten or twenty posts, give some rez. Every major plot turn, give some rez.

But this is quite random ... I mean, there are times where characters chatter wildly without advancing the plot. Other times major things occur in quite a few posts. Anyway, giving 4 to 7 REZ points per adventure seems quite low. This is the part of the game that got me more puzzled, I think I will simply give them buckets of REZ points to expend every now and then :P but it just seems wrong XD

You should have a basic idea of what constitutes 'a scene' or a 'plot point'. Just use that. :)

The thing here is, Eclipse Phase is from the same general school of experience as Shadowrun or Deadlands. Rather than D&D's approach, where everyone starts off as a pathetic wimp and gradually grows into a godlike powerhouse, the idea is that you start off as a serious, dedicated, skilled professional in your chosen field, and while there's SOME potential for improvement, it's very slow and minor. If you want it to be a bigger deal, in addition to massively increasing Rez rewards, you should start everyone off with like, 50 points in their stats, 200 CP for active skills, 200 for knowledge, 100 for everything else, and lower the cheap skills cap to 40 or so. That should leave people with plenty of room to grow.
