Armor durability
There's a number of references in the core books to repairing armor... But no references that i can find to damaging armor in the first place. Anyone know anything about this?

Re: Armor durability
The only things that spring to mind straight away is liquid thermite and scrappers gel. It does happen in system, just rarely.

Re: Armor durability
Disassemblers (a nano bot swarm) can damage armor, and damage the armor soaks gets taken from its value. makes Buzzers an interesting weapon

That is specifically in reference to Disassemblers, "Both Energy and Kinetic armor protect against this damage, but these armors are eaten away as well, so the Armor Value is reduced by the soaked DV. [High]" Page 329, EP CORE.

Re: Armor durability
Does it apply to other weapons as well? Nowadays, when a bulletproof jacket is hit, it has to be replaced

Re: Armor durability
It doesn't, HOWEVER, if you want to house rule it in for more deadly combat, feel free. I tried it for a game, didn't like that it make the already deadly combat of EP even more deadly.

Re: Armor durability
I would say to substract dammages already taken from the offered protection, until the armor is repaired. once the protection is down to zero, the durability itself is attacked and the armor damaged

Not really, most other weapons will just create a single point of weakness when they hid, not damage the armor as a hole, the most an attack is normally going to do is create a (bullet sized) point where there is no armor, but that will only be hit on a critical.

Re: Armor durability
One way I have done armor durability (though only in my grittier EP campaign) is to have armor degrade by 1 anytime it is hit with damage that bypasses your armor. If you take 8 damage, and your armor is 6, you take 2 damage and your armor is reduced by 1. Unlike ablative armor, this only happens when your armor is bypassed, and only affects the armor type used (a laser only degrades energy armor, bullets only degrade kinetic). Again I must state: I only use these rules in my most gritty campaign. I have an action campaign that tends to have no such degradation, although I do allow character to target specific equipment (called shot to damage armor is allowed).
