Extrasolar Systems ideas thread
Post your ideas for extrasolar systems in EP here. While most would be those reached through the Gate for gaming purpose, I believe there is also room for some strange observations by telescopes for gaming fluff factor. *Planet Ex-P403 A dying arid world light lying in the light of two stars in binary system of Red dwarf and Red giant. Mostly consists of steppes, grasslands covered continents seperated by shallow seas. Biosphere mostly consists of rodent based animals, shallow seas with trilobite-like creatures and algea, small earthworms. The dominant lifeform seems to be an omnivorous beaver-like creature with exceptionally large disc shaped tail. Further studies on biosphere and biological past are pending. Place of interest due to exo artifact on western hemisphere continent-a tall twisted spire of metal up to 800 meters high, deformed and misshaped. High radiation around a 20 km radius from the spire kills all living things and damages electronics. Every 36.5 hours three signals are sent interesected by 3.65 seconds to a White Dwarf located 34 light years away from the system. Small research station was established to study the object from a safe distance. It is located around 300 km kilometers from the object with an outpost located 15 km from death zone radius. Attempts to penetrate the zone with synthmorphs have failed so far. Rumours circulated along the staff of the station that previous crew lost 7 members of the team, with one supposedly found later and taken to isolated location by hypercorp security.

Planet Binah-0 This exoplanet appears to have been ejected from its home solar system at some point, perhaps due to a migrating hot gas giant. It is currently located in interstellar space, with the nearest star over a lightyear away. Geological activity appears to be absent, indicating that it was ejected more than a billion years ago. A few cracks appear to have formed in the last hundred million years as it froze and contracted, producing deep canyons. The planet is extremely cold, about 25 K. The planet is terrestrial in mass and size with a rocky crust covered with regions of thicker ice ("oceans"). Most of the surface also has a frosting of methane and ammonia. Binah-0 would have been a total loss for the gatecrashing expedition except for a nearby phenomenon: something is producing massive amounts of neutrinos somewhere close. Measurements show that they have a nonrandom distribution unlikely to form by any known natural means, but no identifiable pattern (like the ones found in human neutrino communications) has been observed. The possibility of an alien technological civilization has excited gatecrashers: work on sending a spacecraft to try to triangulate the location of the source is under-way. Theorists worry somewhat about the neutrino intensity: the only known physical processes able to produce neutrinos at comparable densities are supernova core collapses. There is no hint of anything like that near Binah, so whatever process does it either makes use of much smaller masses/energies - another reason to investigate the source, since this might produce a communications breakthrough. Nimbus is sponsoring their own expedition hoping to reach the source.

Cherchez la Lumière This world was found by a Titanian Commonwealth expedition. The world is a of slightly smaller gravity and mass than Earth and orbits in 0.89 AU from its parent star of sun like G type. When the explorers arrived through the Pandora Gate they found a world brightly embraced by the rays of its sun, with dense jungle, humid atmosphere, and numerous insectoid species both flying and crawling throughout the area they entered. After brief scans and setting up sensor probes the explorers begun to establish their temporary base, when Sun set down. Then the "attack" happened. Almost instantly surrounded by dazzling lights of various colours the team expected an optical or laser attack or probing of some kind, before re-assuring themself that they are not object of agression. What they discovered was very unique-it turned out that all plants and insects on the planet communicate their state, intentions and behaviour through photoluminescence, creating astonishing displays of light. While of little practical use for transhumanity, the planet is now a popular attraction for wealthier representatives of Sol System. A small resort has been established which provides both guided tours of more interesting sights on the continent where it is located(such as 4km tall Waterfall of Olkem or Radiance Caves) with around 300 permanent staff. Aerial tours with slow moving blimps and zeppelins are also available. Most of the local fauna has been classified as harmless with proper protection but much of the planet remains unexplored as of yet. Currently a hypercorp is laying out a small spaceport for orbital tours as the sights from there gathered by probes are astonishing-whirlwinds of blue, green light where swarms of insects merge in the night, emerald and red forests changing colour with the night's temperature. A small group of scientists remains on the planet as well, although poorly funded-they are intensively debating if the biosphere could come from natural evolution or if this is some sight of artificial creation by highly advanced civilization or entity. I based this idea on a planet described by Peter F. Hamilton IIRC.

I like that Cherchez La Lumière planet. While I haven't read any of the Hamiton's books, I was reminded of other things as I was reading -Stargate Universe, season 1.5. Several members of the Destiny Crew enjoy a rather long stay on a paradise world they believe was set for 'them' by the Ancients at the far end of the galaxy. Many wanted to stay, including T.J. the onboard MD. Colonel Young, of course, wouldn't have any of it, and forced them back on the Destiny. -Aquablue tome 8 and 9. I don't know if they have translated the series that far, and it's not the best in the series. The White Star two-parter would be a great inspiration for an adventure in the Jovian Junta, by the way. in the two parter that interest us, tome 8 and 9, Nao and his fundation team try to salvage dinosaur-like animals from a planet that is doom to sink into a black hole, while a group of wealthy corporates and industry captains are present on the planet for the ultimate hunt: animals that vanished millions of years ago on EArth. That's counting without the locals

While waiting for Gatecrashing-another batch of planets(this one based loosely on nice idea in some story I read once) Sereia A quite unremarkable planet, mostly arid with unbreatheable atmosphere slight more dense than original Mars one. It is located closer to the main star(a yellow type sun) than Mars. While suitable for terraforming, the rather scant water resources made it a reserve candidate due to numerous other more preferable planets discovered with easier conditions. The planet itself would be abandoned if not for a unexplainable discovery made around 3 km from the gate. Here in the arid desert, barely touched by winds a statute made of diamond strength alloy was found. While other planets sometimes are riddled with human artifacts this one was special-it is a statue of a mermaid with clear human features, covering its face with a hand and concealing as slight smile. Of human height and located on a square pedestal, the statue has no symbols or marks indicating any message. Analysis of the metal and its age have concluded that the statute is not of transhuman origin(as artists sometimes due leave their works on other exoplanets), and was dated to be around 3 million years old. How it managed to survive and who or what created the structure is a mystery. No other traces of civilization or xeno-artifacts have been found on the planet. Currently there is a small( around 20 personnel) station, with occasional tourist traffic wanting to see the statue, which has been covered by diamonoid dome and is protected by the stations drone security systems in case of attempted theft.

HEADER COMMENTS MAY NOT BE SUPPRESSED <<>> From: N56791.RI To: N1.PC Subject: Précis of system designated WR124-Inferno, TPG Scouting mission FE10.147.63/A Inferno is a large cluster of asteroidal debris in long term orbit around the Wolf Rayet star WR124. Wolf Rayet stars are massive stars near the end of their lifespans that have begun to shed mass at extreme velocities. WR124 is surrounded by a huge nebula of glowing gas and plasma which has formed as the stars surface is sged at hig velocity. Normally there would be no possibility of survivng exposure to such an environment, however, at some point in the past a planetary body of jovian size was destroyed by WR124. The remain of this body have coalesced into a dense disk or lenticular shaped field of asteroids, over 500,000km wide and 4,000km thick. This body is oriented with the flat planet towards WR124 and forms a shield against the strong stellar wind, creating a patch of calm space beyond it, known as the "eye" to the locals (more of which later). This calm zone is far from empty. Thousands of asteroids float within it, some part of the shield that heve been knocked free and some part of the ejecta from the star. In addition, from time to time the bowshock beyond the shield will buck and curl as the huge pressures on it churn flex, sending more bodies into the eye. The Inferno gate is located within a squat stone structure on one of the larger bodies, known as the Anchor. From here dozens of other asteroids have been lashed together with nanotube and other exotic materials to form the Inferno mining colony. The colonists, human, have no idea how they got here - some remember being victims of the Titans during the early stages of the Fall, some remember attending a clinic for a backup and then awakening in Inferno, some have no idea how they got here at all, their memories jumbled and confusing. Whatever the reason, they all awakend in stock flat morphs 8 years ago in a small facility stocked with everything they would need to build Inferno: mining equipment, makers, cornucopia machines, feedstock, medical supplies and raw materials. Everything but a way back home. None of the morphs had a cortical stack, and there were no new gestation tanks or blueprints for more advanced morphs, stacks or ego bridges. Death in Inferno was final. So, with little other choice, they built Inferno. They use the disk for raw materials to maintain and expand the colony and tap the violent energies of the solar wind for almost unlimited power. The colony was isolated, but prospering, until 3 years ago. Then the aliens came. File ends. ***Note: Thi is adapted from the White Wolf Trinity setting, where the colony is known as Karoo and is in the Crab Nebula instead.***

Planet Freefall The solitary habitable world in a single star system, Freefall is the moon of the gas giant Argus. Reachable via the Pandora Gate, its size is comparable to Titan, though its atmosphere and temperature are considerably more friendly to life. Breathable even by unmodified flats and with a temperature roughly equal to that of Earth, the world is seemingly pleasant. However, there are reasons that it has not been actively colonized yet. The first and most obvious reason is that Freefall is extremely active, geologically speaking. Earthquakes occur with alarming frequency and magnitude, reshaping the landscape significantly on a monthly or even weekly basis. This makes building any structure not on extremely solid ground and made of very sturdy materials difficult, to say nothing of the designs required to ensure stability. Second, life on Freefall has right-handed proteins instead of left, making consumption of local life impossible; all food must be imported or grown locally. However, these two complications have not stopped eager explorers from coming through to explore the planet. Freefall's active geology has made the move onto land difficult for larger organisms, effectively trapping the planet's ecosystem in a period roughly equivalent to Earth's Devonian period. This, in turn, has led to an astonishing increase in diversity in flora, which, in absence of animal polinators and an inability to grow particularly large (or to have long lifespans) have developed an array of unique adaptive mechanisms. At present, Freefall is home to three major colonies. Two are Argonaut research outposts, one of which is a squat building on flat, dry scrub-ground on one of the world's continents. The other outpost consists of a mobile encampment that constantly travels across the landscape, consisting entirely of researchers sleeved in flying morphs. The final colony is an autonomist outpost, the first on the planet, that takes a radical approach to the problem of the violent seismic activity, and is from where the world gets its name. Positioned in a stationary orbit above a grand canyon rift in the planet's surface, the lighter-than-air colony remains suspended high above the dangerous terrain, with the only way up or down being via flight.

Exoplanet Shanxi: Atmospheric Pressure: 2 ATM Gravity: 1.5g Water planet with no solid core. Surface ice can be kilometers thick, but gravitational heating keeps the interior of the planet relative warm. Prevailing Weather Conditions: Low Visibility, Persistent Cloudcover and dense Mists broken only by high winds. Very High humidity. Temperature ranges from -80 C to -26 C. Health Concerns: Low Atmospheric Oxygen will cause Hypoxia in unprepared Flats, and better prepared models not specifically adapted for such will face the same if they exert themselves more than an office job would entail. Severe cold requires protective clothing, either space-worthy, or otherwise cold-resistent. Persistent radiation from the star presents a long-term health hazard, and causes severe sunburns and retinal damage in Flats. Recommended Gear by Locals: A good helmet with insulation and a reserve O_2 supply, perhaps augmented by an O_2 extractor. Good insulated Gloves and boots. Do not leave exposed skin. Outerwear must protect against cold and radiation, preferably while being insulating and high-visibility (to deal with diminished visibility). Locals recommend a Shanxi Furcoat. Transgenic stocks were adapted to the local radiation, and count Low-grade radiation shielding. Additionally, they can protect an exposed Flat from average weather conditions for several days, while they can protect a local Ruster from the same indefinitely. Storms and other extreme weather reduce this time considerably. Furcoats popular with locals integrate a computer-controlled system to manage the bioluminescent chromatophores that line the outside of the coat, under the transparent hairs. Locals often use these Coats luminescence and color-control to make visual tracking easier, while also serving as a backup visual signalling mechanism when hand-signals or radios are not working. Local farmers favor the Coats, while most Synthetics are employed by the Research programs. Shanxi Ecology: * Biologists agree that almost the entire ecosystem must have evolved from the Deepwater current lifeforms that are still found underwater today. These creatures either use chemosynthesis directly, or are high-order consumers of energy gathered in this way. There are no surface-dwelling creatures on record for Shanxi, except for two known cases: 1) Transient Exposure Predators: a behavior category developed by several different kinds of native flora and fauna. It consists mainly of placing prey above the protective ice onto the exposed surface of Shanxi, and returning to consume them later. Example: The Schwatzchild Beaked Wriggler survives the Low-Flow season mainly on a diet of Jade Polyps broken off of the Polyp-Reefs in the Mid-depth. While it cannot normally digest such durant prey, it is more than capable of bringing them to the surface, and leaving them there for up to a month before returning to eat. In the intervening time, the prey has not only been frozen, but has also had most of the proteins in its body broken down to non-toxic levels by radiation. 2) Hoechst-HeLa Placozoa: Commonly called "Plaque" by colonists, these simple organisms are the only lifeforms (other than those intentionally brought by colonists) that live on the surface of Shanxi. These colonial sheets of tissue are found only on the surface of Shanxi, typically occurring in tough sheets that spread horizontally across the ice. Some sheets have been measured to sizes in excess of 20 km^2, with a thickness between 1mm and 4m. Plaque sheets are disliked by colonists for four reasons: firstly, they are highly radioactive, and exposure to sheets can deliver radiation doses far in excess of the safe threshold for the normal preventative treatments to work--thus requiring medical treatment in nearly all cases; secondly, the tough, sticky sheets are quite damaging to mechanical equipment, acting as a severe abrasive on moving parts; thirdly, they tend to regrow something like kudzu; finally, trace colonies of Plaque can seed new sheets in the right environment, for instance, it is not uncommon to find Plaque growing inside the casing of fusion batteries in exposed machinery. Plaque sheets are typically found in isolated areas, and those near settlements require treatment with dangerous nanomechanical organic solvents, as burning or irradiation is typically ineffective in the long term. Curious scientists from SRI only found out about the Plaque within the last 2 years, and there has been a flurry of papers published about it. They have discovered that Plaque is almost certainly not native to Shanxi. For one thing, it has an entirely unique biology dependent upon ionizing radiation for energy and reproduction that makes it unlike any other lifeform on Shanxi, and almost unheard of in the rest of Human Space. Additionally, recent work has shown that the Plaque is likely a derivative of HeLa cell cultures, though that line of research has been recently halted by SRI for unknown reasons. --- * Planets of Zhenniao: 0 ) Zhenniao (Poisonfeather Bird) 1) Sanzuwu (Mythological Chinese 3-legged sun-crow; Retrograde Hot Jupiter; UNinHabitable) 2) Jilin (UNH) 3) Hubei (UNH) 4) Gansu (UNH) 5) Shanxi * Moons of Shanxi: When the exoplanetary system of Zhenniao was first surveyed, the principle researchers focused on the habitable planet and delegated to their assistants the task to completing the survey process for the rest of the solar system. The Moons of Shanxi were their first assignments. Due to the wildly varying ethnicities of the assistants, the names are more variable than others in the system. 1) Boatman -- (Orbits 2.5 times per day) A metallic ball with very low gravity and no atmosphere, Boatman hosts the largest human settlement outside of Shanxi itself, Big-Face. An Extropian manufacturing group called Metis Industries was the first group to capitalize on the moon's profitable metals and abundant solar energy. Major products include groundcraft, spacecraft, and prefab habitats of various types. Energy and satellites are also big business. Population is entirely synths, but visitor facilities are available. Much of the facilities are automated, and the majority of the Sentient population spends only minimal amounts of time in physical bodies, due to the lower cost of living as Infomorphs on the beehive. Commonly, Boatman products are "delivered" via orbital insertion to a missile address. Past failures to provide accurate height measurements for delivery addresses has resulted in several deliveries creating massive craters. Population ~100 bodies, ~250 total individuals. Local synthetics are radiation hardened, but regolith dust has a tendency to get everywhere. 2) Opanayiko -- (Orbits 2x per day) Molten and radioactive, this moon hosts an atmosphere of hot corrosives. 3) Vilnius -- A icy ball of rock and methane, it is believed that it's surface is host to oceans of hydrocarbons. 4) Siila (minor) -- Small, Rocky and distant, Siila is the location of the Titanian Zhenniao Observatory. Siila is tidally locked such that the observatory constantly faces the star. Population: ~25. 5) Come-See (minor) -- Elliptical Orbit, irregular spin. Assumed to be captured asteroid. Glows yellow in sunlight. 6) Nightjar (minor; Shanxi Mass-Effect Relay in our game) -- Surveyed only 2 years ago, it was originally assumed to be a trapped asteroid like so many of the moonlets orbiting Shanxi. Named for the exceedingly hard to see crypticly colored birds of the same name. Turned out to be alien artifact tidally locked with Shanzi (can only see it's ass-end). Was originally partially encased in compressed icy dust about 1-3 m thick. Nighjar currently hosts one research facility typically containing ~10-15 researchers. --- Other Moons of Interest: Jilin-4: This otherwise unremarkable sphere of low albedo produces a remarkable radio footprint, and indicators predict a thermal release cycle as regular as clockwork. The Titanian Zhenniao Observatory on Siila has confirmed via remote probes that the surface is encrusted with communications devices and radiators of truly gigantic scale. Flyby shows Solar-harvesting systems located on Jilin-5, Jilin-6, and Jilin-9. Researchers are concerned that these systems are all centered around Jilin-4, indicating activity concealed under the surface of Jilin-4 may be collecting large amounts of power from the remote harvesters. Firewall is aware. ST: Jupiter Brain, preparing to perform a "grey-goo" bootstrap of Sanzuwu into programmable matter.

An Internal report regarding 1825-Mu This report is a secured object/file of Firewall and is not available for duplication/copy/edit nor for distribution in unedited or raw data form outside of Firewall. Any attempts to do so will result in immediate termination of current morph and ego of person/s responsible. *** 1825-Mu is a late phase red giant star (K-Ib) with three planets orbiting including Naacal, Raa, and Churchward. While the primary is late phase in terms of age it's predicted life span makes the system highly stable and open for consideration of colonization. It is theorized there were once two inner planets based on heavy element mapping of the star and mineral analysis of wandering "nomad" asteroid groups (more on these below). It is accepted that 1825-Mu resides outside of our own galaxy marking it as one of few extra-galactic locations reachable by Gate. Analysis continues to prove or disprove it's location. Naacal is the closest world to the primary residing just inside the habitable zone of the primary. The planet in it's past was obviously once a frozen world covered in thick ice sheets and carrying little in the way of flora and fauna. Analysis shows that current ecosystem roughly equates to Permian period of Earth. The warming of the planet has lead to an explosion of evolutionary changes and growth across the planet and the fossil record (what little has been researched) indicates a mass extinction event during the shift from frozen ice locked planet to it's current tropic state. Perhaps one of the most interesting notes concerning the biological life is a high level of land dwelling cephalopods inhabiting a wide range of ecological niches and have in many ways out-evolved any developing mammalian or reptilian life forms. These include anything from small arboreal dwelling "swing shells" hunting what simple insect organisms exist to the larger nomadic plain dweller "octostrider" consuming a mix of vegetation and it's own smaller cousins in addition to the primitive rodent populations. Many uplifted octomorphs have found this world fascinating and developed one of the few extrasolar octomorph colonies on this world with population of roughly two hundred (200). Naacal enjoys a 27.5 hour rotation and it's orbital year is comparable to Venus. The planet has a thicker atmosphere than Earth at 1.3 times standard and .85 of Earth's gravity. The gate is located in a jungle grotto half submerged in a meter of water and faces a cliff face 1.5 meters away making delivery of large equipment difficult; work is under way to excavate the cliff face and allow for easier delivery of larger equipment. Raa sits on an odd elliptic that takes it off the solar plain spending as much as half of it's orbital year "above" or "below" the level of it's two siblings. It's orbital mechanics raise some interest in that while off the elliptic created by it's sibling planets it's actually slightly closer to the primary than Naacal but lacks Naacal's water resources making the entire planet primarily desert along the equator softening to scrub land and plains with only small patches of forested terrain towards the poles; the nature of the plant life is unknown at this time. The world is geologically unstable and has some of the most breathtaking mountain chains across it's surface. The atmosphere is unbreathable by organic morphs and the constant sandstorms raging across the equator could theoretically do terrible things to synthmorphs. The mountain chains act as barriers preventing these small but fierce storms from becoming one large super-storm. Perhaps the most exciting world in the system there are extensive ruins to be found along the base of these mountain chains and though exploration is very limited and no transhuman has set foot on the planet as of yet initial knowledge being attained only by unmanned probes and orbitals. The planets rotation is rapid at 16 hours and the orbital year is only slightly less than it's larger neighbor Naacal. The atmosphere is roughly half that of Earth and gravity is calculated at .75 that of standard Earth. Churchward is the smallest of the three and barely rates a moon let alone a planet. The composition is similar to Titan though telescope observation has determined a high percentage of heavy elements which leads many to speculate about large depositories of mineral wealth on the planetoid. Several Hypercorps have tagged the planetoid for future exploitation but the current state of the Gate exit renders most plans mid-term future at best. There are several "nomad" groups of asteroids operating in highly irregular orbits around the primary. There is concern of possible impacts with Naacal but the majority of the nomads seems to be in the outer system. Geometric and distant observation and analysis of composition indicates these nomad groups were once part of large celestial bodies and the current theory suggests two inner planets torn apart by the expansion phase of the primary during transition from G status to K. Plot Hooks- The "ruins" on Raa are in fact just jumbles of rocks separated from the mountains during the planets many earthquakes and tremors. The real ruins are under the oceans of Naacal and indicate an intelligence species of cephalopods once called the world home. The research is spotty at best as the uplifted octomorph population on the planet and in the know seek to keep this quiet thinking to make this their species first great discovery. Churchward is in reality one massive alien station that has become frozen as the facility has shut down. The nature of the station and the reason for it's abandonment are of course up the GM though it's recommended that the past inhabitants of Naacal NOT be the previous inhabitants. The stations existence could indicate a war between the two species or even a monitoring mission or they could even be completely unrelated. 1825-Mu is not nearly as stable as originally thought and is in danger of seriously dangerous solar system destroying activities. The population of colonists need to be evacuated or perhaps the mysterious Churchward object could somehow be involved in creating the crisis or be the key to stopping it?

root@Extrasolar System
::ECOLOGENE rep-renewal division internal memo:: The proposals for building Daisyworld on the planetoid body 10 KX[sub]42[/sub] have left subcommittee, and are now investigating bids for the contract. The initial bid for soil-prep is being subcontracted through a hypercorp afilliated with the Nano-Ecologist movement with the goal of cultivating some e-rep as insurance against a few of the Mars projects the Preservationists find distasteful. After the soil-prep has been completed, ECOLOGENE indentured personnel will be stationed around the planetoid body to prepare for seeding. The personnel will be separated into even groups corresponding to the colors of the flowers they are responsible for. The teams will begin planting from opposite sides of the planet, and will continue planting until the planting budget has been exhausted. The indentured are then responsible for maintaining the biosystem for the length of their contract, with first responsibility to keeping all other forms of life from growing on the Daisyworld, and second to the health of their flower color. The Daisyworld is located in a system with an unusually active sun, which will help push the daisy population away from converging to either the black daisy of the white daisy population. Long term research goals include stabilizing the surface temperature of a planet in an unstable system, and research into biosystem complexity for microbial populations. Potential threats are from the usual sources, and the Preservationist concerns will have to be attended to avoid divergent cost predictions for the project.

Nitpick: the problem with giant stars, even in their "stable" phases, is that they change illumination drastically in short periods (thousands or millions of years), faster than natural ecosystems can adapt. They also tend to have atmosphere-stripping solar winds. If the giant star is distant while the planet orbits the dwarf, it'd be less of an issue.

Hmm, and how many extrasolar ecosystems and planets have we examined in order to conclude this as fact? Also who says it is a natural ecosystem anyway ;)

Not enough. ;) However, you have to start somewhere with assumptions about how biological life behaves. There might be super-fast evolving ecosystems that can handle temperature changes from Terran-habitable to Venusian in some tens of millions of years, but I'd bet on most ecosystems being unequal to the task.

Then it's not a problem. A planet might well be terraformed, tailored to the red giant's current illumination, and be good for the life of the civilization that terraformed the planet before the giant renders it uninhabitable again.

Maybe there are single-helix RNA based organisms? I am not sure, but it would accelerate evolution, right?

The Seeder
The Seeder Discovered by a group of anarchist in the galaxy rim, the original name was considered too "colorful" and the actual name is a more clean variation. This mega structure is a long metallic cylinder that spans a distance of about 1AU, the megastructure is abandoned but a small dome city has been found in it's middle and long range scanners showed what appear to be gargantuan generators in it's south pole. Using long range probes was possible to find the rests of what appear to be six planets that have been dismantled to built the structure and ruins of some structures that are believed to be ancient solar arrays. For a good time the purpose of the structure was unknown, until a researcher noticed that there was a hole in the north pole measuring only a two meters in diameter and using a powerful ladar he measured the length of the hole as almost 0,9AU. His first idea was that someone had built a weapon, but a few findings in the abandoned city revealed the true purpose of the mega structure, it had been built to launch small probes at relativistic speeds targeted at other and distant galaxies. The eggs So far only three of these artifacts have been found in the abandoned city, they are extremely resilient and so far they appear to be almost indestructible, each one of then appear to have a small empty area in their interiors that probably could house a probe or even a few cortical stacks. Some anarchist groups have been wanting to make the artifact work again and launch the three remaining eggs with egos sleeved in special made nanoswarms.
