I think it's a pretty neat idea, especially since standard apartments and homes seem to be for families and raising children and children are in short supply so the drive for a family would actually kind of become the hole community. I could see some loft type quarters that could be easily mass produced and partitioned by the fullerine equivalent of a rice paper walls.

We have one of those in our area. I believe it was a steelmill before. Now it's artisan apartments (way overpriced), and great for photography. However, due to zoning laws, this isn't (legally) possible everywhere. In anarchist habitats, sometimes people will find out WHY it's not legal to live in an abandoned petroleum refinery or uranium storage facility.

Frankly, I can see this being used in autonomist habs, as well as some small corps. The former works well with it because a lot of anarchists/autonomists in the inner system have very little in the way of needing to work (due to communally owned cornucopia machines), and thus only do so because they want to instead. If you WANT to work, I can see this sort of lifestyle as immensely appealing. It also works very well in habitats for saving on space. As for hypercorps, small businesses of dedicated individuals could work very well in this sort of environment, just like many start-up businesses.
