How do you pop a flexbot?
We're having a debate in our game about flexbots and swarmoids. The first question is popping, that is removing a body from a cyberbrain, or as our gm put it, how much is too much? The question comes roughly what percentage of microbots in a swarmoid need to be destroyed or otherwise removed before it's mental processes start degrading. As for a flexbot, does it have a single cyberbrain in one of it's pieces? or is it distributed like the swarmoid?

Wouldn't this depend on the actual design of the bot? Require a skill check to determine if you found the right part during dis-assembly.

Re: How do you pop a flexbot?
On Swarmanoids; Enough that it has taken a total damage equal to it's DURx2. That might seem fairly arbitrary, and it kind of is, but essentially it's handled in by the GM. Because swamanoids are immune to wounds they don't even suffer from modifiers before they go, it's just at one point the ego is viable, and then it isn't. On Flexbots; You are totally welcome to disregard this, but I believe the intention of the ones in the core rulebook is that each Flexbot morph you purchase is a completely autonomous unit. It has a single cyberbrain, and instead of that one splitting up it is capable of joining with other Flexbots to make a gestalt. By default the core rulebook is very vague about how to handle this. If you want an expanded look at Flexbots you might want to do a search for Flexbots and You, a thread where I laid out the prep work for an article due to appear in the Fanzine that expands the rules for them. A note that the default version of popping is removing the stack, not the entire cyberbrain. Removing the cyberbrain is probably a fairly difficult task to do properly, without damaging the hardware.

Thanks, the comment actually came from losing modules to things other than damage, like a sudden hull breach or a door sealing part of a swarmoid off from the rest of itself. Anyway, what's this fanzine of which you speak?
