It's rare that I find an article on alternet that is written with journalistic neutrality, especially on a topic like evolutionary psychology in relation to gender. I got into an argument about evolutionary psychology being a crock of shit at one point, and ended up losing that argument. While I'm not going back to claiming the whole field is bunk, this article indicates some of the reasons why I felt that way. It isn't necessarily the studies being done, it's the utter lack of rigor in the conclusions. It is very bad form in the sciences to take your conclusions beyond what your data can actually show, and such things as the "common knowledge" that men are "better at math" is based on such pathetic data that it makes me wish I had a pet velociraptor to introduce these people to. Bad science will rue the day that I get my velociraptor. Rue it, I say.—

[hr] I just want an attack velociraptor trained to publicly and viciously assault the use of very bad statistics and nearly absent evidence for pushing social agendas. If the reptile brain can see the lack of evidence, we haven't gained much with this whole mammalian "abstract thought" thing.@-rep +1
