Re: Eve Online
Yeppers. I play both games. Capsuleers have been egocasting for a few years now -- you EP folks better hurry to catch up! Warezmy Carr is my main. He's a one-man pirate corp operating in low-sec, but is currently on a mission to raise his sec status to non-outlaw levels. The whole 'not allowed in high-sec' restriction just got to be too much of a pain in the butt. He'll either be doing the high-sec war-dec thing or moving back out to null-sec (without the alliance/sov thing, as he's already been there and done that) ... I haven't decided which.

I used to play, but I've been unemployed and broke for so long that the account is fallow, floating in digital void. It's my all-time fave MMO tho, nothing (so far) has held a candle to it as far as my preferences for what I want from an MMO.

100% agreed
I started playing EVE Online in summer 2004 (after hearing about one of the numerous scams that happen in-game) and got recruited 2 days later into one of the first corporations the game ever had. The corp trained me and gave me better ships, and that was it. I got hooked so badly by the PvP. We were part of an alliance named after the Curse region we'd lay about in and we had such fleet fights! I've had *the* *most* *awesome* moments in there (and I started playing video games in the mid 80s). And also the most enraging ones too. I remember quite a few evenings where I ended up exiting the game, hands trembling, heart pumping, thinking I'd never play the game again, usually because of some ship loss either because of my own stupidity or because of a fleet op gone wrong, usually having brought a ship I couldn't afford to replace without a lot of effort. Then again, I'd also end up, still hands trembling and heart pumping, elated, screaming my head off gleefully after a successful fight and a well organised fleet op. I ended up quitting not so much because of the gameplay itself, but because this game started messing up with my RL. This game is *so* time consuming. I'd spend whole evenings in-game and sometimes not so much would even happen. It could be frustrating at times. These days I have a lot less time available to play and EVE is just *too* time consuming. But man was it hard to unsubscribe. At first I'd not even play any more but would log on just to set my skill trainings thinking I'd get back into the game later. It took me months. Still, I've been following what CCP has done over all those years and I still think they've got most of it all right. If I wasn't so stay-at-home, I'd go to Iceland and ask for a job interview. They've had a few jobs I could have applied for over the years. *sigh* :)

I have this weird mental image of Experia charging some simulspace players 500 real-life credits for a virtual monocle.

and what about DUST 514?
it's the FPS game of the EVE verse on PS3 Quite fun, once you get the hang of it and the way the skills are handled, it sure should be applied in the EVE Online UI as well it's much clearer

Before my PS3 Yellow-Light-of-Death'd, I was playing the shit out of Dust 514. I loved Tribes and Tribes 2, and it feels a lot like an EVE Online Tribes 2.

Hehe yeah that's why I said CCP got most of it all right. That wasn't their best idea and they got quite a backlash for it. On the other hand, Experia's monocle probably has some effect in the player's simulspace.

Myself, I've passed because I just can not play an FPS with a pad. I hear it's supposed to run with mouse/keyboard too but I haven't tried.
