anyone play diaspora?
the fate based RPG that has been picking up awards recently: http://www.vsca.ca/Diaspora/ it plays pretty well if you like FATE, which I think is a pretty okay system if youre into the whole collaborative story telling thing. its not as collaborative as (say) Fiasco or Polaris or Penny, but fate is collaborative in the same way that Dogs in the Vinyard is collaborative. There is still a GM and all that.. its setting is less defined than EP, as it tries to present a universe where humanity is scattered amongst the stars and you could play in almost any kind of cluster of systems. It is post singularity in that there are remnants of transcendant cultures everywhere (the FTL slipstream network that is used for star travel is likely a remnant of such) but all the tech is low level hard sci-fi EP sorts of stuff. there are not codified rules for morph swapping or consiousness uploading, but it could probably be worked in. I guess my questions are these: has anyone tried it, and what do you think? and, has anyone tried to adapt EP or the forking / uploading / sleeving ideas to the FATE system? edit: oh, i see there are already some resources along these lines: https://docs.google.com/View?id=dc56wz68_12crxrzww5 http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?p=12566889#post12566889 http://zerneeak.com/rpgwiki/index.php?title=Transhuman_Diaspora_Setting

I bought the rulebook at the same time I got Eclipse Phase, and I've only glanced through it so far. It sounds interesting but EP has definitely eaten my time, especially with all that gorgeous artwork and formatting in the rulebook (compared with Diaspora's extremely dry novel style, and simple line drawings). I remember meeting the creator of Diaspora at PAX East earlier in the year when the game was just a pamphlet. It would be interesting to use its solar system builder to create planets to explore in EP through the gates.
