Do I see a cover and release date for Gatecrashing here?
http://client205.twwebdev.com/schedule/09281034EclipsePhase_Gatecrashing... Also-it seems it will be published in January 2011?

How in the Nines did you find that then? :p Shinies are shiny. Had hoped that the Catalyst stuff hadn't pushed Gatecrashers into 2011, but oh well, if it has I am sure I will somehow survive. Nice Neo-Hominid.

Pure coincidence-went from EP wiki page to publisher and started looking what other games they have, noticed update to Gatecrashing and here we are :)

The webpage(not the pdf) has it listed for January release. Happily it will coincide with official release of confirmed Kepler data of hundred of exoplanets ;)

oh Wow! I really can't wait! though I hope we'll get the introducing story like we did with Sunward's Meld By the background on the pic, I reckon they arrived on Echo IV. I must admit I had a more Stargate-ish mental picture about the surrounding of the P-Gate like a bunker or a facility. Remember Site Alpha in SG1 or Prometheus in SGU it would make sense fo the hypercorps "owning" the gates to built protection, settlement and amendities around the gate.

Well it might be one of the first teams to get there, or some other gate, plus I think there is some kind of shielding behind them.

Its not Echo. It cannot be Echo. The Echo gate is on Echo V, and that planet is a dead wasteland. And you can quite clearly see the Pandora gate behind them. It could also be that whatever Exoplanet it is, is only accessable by one of the other gates, such as the Pandora (Location) Gate. Gatekeeper basically just chucks people through the gates and waits a while. Not the kind of people to be actively setting up offworld bases. EDIT: Also, because its fun, time for some speculation. How long was the delay between Sunward being in PDF and available in print? About a month? I honestly cannot remember. Maybe we will be getting Gatecrashers before Christmas as a PDF! :p

ohh that would be awesome! a great Xmas prezzie! oh, and thanks for answering one of the biggest question I had about the Echo system. I wasn't sure if either or both had a Gate. if this isn't Echo IV, then chances are that what we see is Bluewood

I'd just like to remind everyone that while we as a publisher have to provide information well in advance to distributors, we're not going to engage in further discussion of availability until books are in the warehouse. We will continue our (new-ish) policy of announcing PDF and other electronic availability sometime within the week before the electronic releases. So, enjoy your speculation, but don't expect any answers. ;-)

I didn't expect any :3 I guess I have to compliment you on sticking to your guns about the whole tight lipped thing. I imagine you lot are as excited or more about products as we are. That doesn't mean I don't intend to sneak into Canada and steal the copy that I imagine is sitting on one of your electronic devices though. Prepare, Adam Jury, for CodeBreaker is coming for you! *scary noises*

With all due fun-ness ... I do view threats of breaking-and-entering as un-fun. So just drop me a message in advance and we can hang out while you read it, OK?

Angering both Pirates and Ninjas may be a bad idea Mr. Jury. God knows what would happen if they were to ever join forces. Good god, we would all be doomed...

Personally in this day and age it's almost the only sane thing to do. And considering the praise you've received with the Ennies, it sure isn't hurting your glory any!

Rhyx, was your "Glory" pun intended or not? Adam, can you tell us if you're planning a short story release well before Gatecrashing , like with Lack and Meld? not asking when, just asking "if" I sure hope so!

Electronic releases will get announced roughly a week before their availability.

I wonder if we should start asking if the book will be edited to include a cameo appearance by the latest Exoplanet find... ^_^

Oh too bad, I hope I didn't thwart any promotion announcements by discovering this. Waiting anxiously for Gatecrashing....

No, no -- it's publicly available, it's just not information that is typically "fan friendly." The sell sheets are focused on distributors/retailers and are designed to give them an overview of the book and how to sell it. As such, not only are they not Super!Exciting! but they can also contain spoilers. So we keep them quiet, but they're not hidden. Just not waved in everyone's face. :)

Funny thing I noticed while I was away. A couple weeks back I noticed that you guys posted up the update to the NPC collection, and I decided that I would try and download the update on my phone (I didn't have my computer with me... I missed it so much....). I couldn't find a single copy on the net anywhere, save for the original un-errata'd copy that came out before. Furthermore, I decided to try and look for other "pirate" copies of other Eclipse Phase stuff, and found that it wasn't the only thing hard to find... copies of the Lack and Melt releases were also very hard to find, as were errata'd copies for anything else besides the core book (if any was released while I was gone). On the other hand, I found pirate copies of the newest D&D books a couple days after they came out. I see great irony in the fact that pirates are more interested in documents when they can actually be pirated. It's as if the real deterrent to free distribution that Wizards should have looked for was allowing people to freely distribute.

Or it could be the relative obscurity of Eclipse Phase vs D&D. Hard to say really.

That will be part of it, but not entirely. I can find most PDF books within days of its release for most games. Even decent scans pop up within the week. However it took me some time to find a "pirate" copy of the Errata'd Eclipse Phase rulebook (The one with the layers). In the end I just bought a copy of the PDF off of DriveThruRPG, it is easier that way, and I know that whenever I get one of my table to download it it will be the same copy I have.

Even with the relative obscurity, the fanbase that does exist seems to be savvy to such things as Bittorrent and eMule. I just find it to be an interesting observation that despite a free pass regarding distribution of the books, it is not happening to as dramatic a degree as it does with other games. You might be right in what you state, but I think it should be noted that other relatively obscure games have better distribution as well, despite the fact that they are illegal to distribute, unlike EP (Pathfinder and Mutants & Masterminds were the ones I looked up).

Many sources are reporting that Pathfinder is currently selling close to what D&D4e is selling, actually. It is certainly in a category above Eclipse Phase and I suspect above M&M, although I don't know M&M sales figures.

Re: Do I see a cover and release date for Gatecrashing here?
Well pathfinder is basically a revamped d&d3.5, so i suspect there is quite a number of people checking it out rather then going to d&d4. on the topic of m&m i can't comment, as beyond getting the first edition and some addons used, i have not found much reason to care. I guess one could also have a look at it from a "forbidden fruit" angle. That the files that give the most "prestige" is the ones that companies don't want distributed. In a way that kind of thinking can be traced back to the first home computers...
