Multitask = +30 to any skill?

Multitask = +30 to any skill?
Aiding another offers a max of +30. If you have the multitask enhancement, you can use one or both of your beta forks to help you with any mental or mesh skill roll, giving +30 if the skill is 31+ (or +20 otherwise). Is this correct?

I have always ruled that because you get the two extra Complex Actions/Phase from Multitasking that the forks created by it are dedicated totally to giving you those actions. Otherwise the implant becomes better than Mental Speed. If you want to have a few Forks ride shotgun with you its much easier to just get a few Ghostrider Modules implanted in your brain. However, that is a personal ruling. Ask your GM how they feel about it. I would however say that if the character gave up their extra Actions gained from Multitasking they could indeed get the benefit of a teamwork bonus. P.S, they would only get a +20 from the Multitasking, it can only produce two Forks at a time.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works by design. The act of helping out in a Teamwork test is a Complex (or Task) action. So if you're forks are helping on the teamwork test they're spending their actions doing that.

Mea Culpa: My mode of speech can make others feel uninvited to argue or participate. This is the EXACT opposite of what I intend when I post.

Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure. My AI character already has Infosec (Hacking) 90, I didn't want to be cheesing the rules too much by doing this. With +20 from Multitasking, +10 from good quality programs, and another +30 from complementary skills (notably Academics: Computer Science, Programming, Interfacing) he has Infosec 150. And that's without bothering to take extra time to get more bonuses (there's have to be over -50 in penalties to drop his skill below 99 and make that worthwhile!)

InfoSec is so easy to boost it is just silly. Its quite easy to get a positive modifier even when speedy Brute-Force Hacking an Admin account. It quickly gets to the point where a semi-skilled AGI character can get into basically any system he wants in a single Action Turn.

Resulting in some in-combat sensory hacks, perhaps? Sounds like a gits:sac scenario ;) Not sure if it could hit one turn tho, as brute force takes 20 turns, dropped by a max of 60% for a -60 to the test. This then results in a task time of 12 turns (iirc). edit: turns, not seconds. edit 2: bad math, 8 turns. and with a mos of 40, done in one turn. so i guess it is highly possible indeed.

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't read your second edit. Yup, MOS40 is how you do it.

If you're interested in mid-combat hacking, here's a thread I participated in with some theorycrafting on the subject. Unfortunately it devolved into a lot of flaming and personal opinions on the matter, but the information in the first 20 posts or so is solid. I still disagree with the use of multitasking sleight for hacking, but without it we can achieve one round hacks 51% of the time without moxie. http://www.eclipsephase.com/combat-hacking
