There have been a couple of posts in these forums and others. The latest would probably be on rpg.net; http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?585758-Recommend-Eclipse-Phase-Like-... There is also a references page at the back of the Core book.

Found a few at the Comic Con, in small publishers' catalogs. -Aunomati (created by Michael Heffron, Lawdogs Comics) covers several elements found in EP, like TITANs like AI, forking, pods and the Clanking Mass, but also covers th digitalization of the mind Deep Blue (Mythic Comics). Good depiction of a Fall Era story showing how the TITANs could have risen. pretty dark story too. Also some promotional art for an indie scifi movie called WHITE STORM, and the visual looks really nifty and could do very well work for EP

Hotwire: Requiem for the Dead (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=user_review&id=708) is pretty damn good. The world isn't *quite* the same, but it hits a lot of the same themes - the ubiquitous computing, the social-media saturated society (and its role in said society's upheaval), the unethical scientific experimentation, and even the savvy, sarcastic tech-expert protagonist, quipping with ease and fighting baddies with the Power of Science. The art is absolutely *gorgeous*, too. Very inspirational, art-wise.

I talked about a hour with the folks of Radical Comics at their booth, at last week's SDCC. Really great guys. The ones I talked with really liked the premise of Eclipse Phase, and how it resonates with some of their titles like Hotwire, but also Freedom Formula and Earp (you can easily transpose the action of Earp from future America on the verge of Collapse to a post Fall Mars) and City of Dust for the corporate dictatorial regime

Yeah, City of Dust is pretty awesome, too. I'll check the others out, too - Earp looks refreshing - post-apocalyptica with a bit of a twist... :)

did you draw the parallel in Hotwire between the Blue Lights and the Epsilon Forks? the Skulls lights so ring like exsurgent to me! And Alice got a muse of sorts, too. And a "Mesh Insert" as well, connecting her to her networking and music streaming! Love the parts about 40 percent of people never changing the factory password setting. I wonder if it's true as well for EP's people and their PAN (called Cloud in HWR4tD)? That would bring interesting twist to hacking in EP. You got poor infosec but good Research score? no problem! look out the model and brand of the item/system router you want to hack with Research a -40 mod and add your MoS to your infosec score before rolling the hack-tion

It's not that people doesn't change it just because they are lazy, sometimes they don't have the slightest idea on how to do it (or they don't wanna mess with a working item). In EP, however, I doubt this is the same, because in the worst case scenario the Muse saves the day and remembers all your passwords. That also means that, unless the target is a really, really concrete type of person, most passwords will be random alfanumerical strings (or worst, a phrase with each word in a different language, using another language's gramathics... and the words randomly cut and dispersed through the phrase). However, the more old and powerful someone is, the more likely you can find clues for the passwords (Spaceballs' president comes to my mind... not to mention the password for the princess' planet's atmosphere XD). I'd limit the bonus to a +10 to infosec if trying to sneak in, and an extra 10 to 30% time reduction in case of brute force attacks (so you could, potentially, cut them to only 10% of the time needed or so); at the GM's discrection, obviously ^^

I just finished the Takeshi Kovacs novels by Richard K. Morgan and found that the world(s) of Kovacs universe is very similar to that of EP. Lots of exoplanets only to be reached via ego cast (colonies set up hundreds of years previously), backups, stacks, identity crisis etc. There is even a kind of exurgent virus/Titan AI thing going on in Kovacs's home (Harlan's World) in the third book that is interesting and involves a presumably extinct alien species that has echos of Earth post Fall. I can see fair bit of the Morgan novels in EP for sure.

Have you heard of the comic series Elephantmen? It's about these human/animal hybrids who were created to fight a war for Africa against China for control of Europe after a deadly virus whiped out most of the population. But after the war, the UN rehablitated these so called "Elephantmen" into society. The story focuses on the life of a hippo Elephantmen named Hip Flask, his friends and his enamies, both human and Elephantmen. http://www.hipflask.com/ It's a very interesting concept, and it gives on an idea of what life for uplifts are like.

Doktor Sleepless - mad science, apocalyptic goals, an unwanted future, ubiquitous social media and extreme body modification. Transmetropolitan - Future metropolis, technology everywhere, political conspiracy, etc. A friend of mine draws his influence ingame from the Culture series by Ian M. Banks as well. I myself also draw influence from Mirror's Edge (Its remarkable how quickly my players learned that running is more effective than fighting their way out).

It's mind blowing to me that this stuff hasn't gone mainstream. I know there was a story line in Ironman where Tony Stark backed up his memories and then erased his mind. Not backing up since he started the erasing process, he is missing a a few months of his life. But the transhuman ideas seem too cool not to hit. Like there should be a movie about this stuff!

The Ironman comic "Hypervelocity" is also very eclipse phase - essentially the whole plot is about trying to stop a renegade AGI and how the marvel universe is trying to ignore the clear potential of a singularity. Lots of fun things to steal, like the "beautiful garbage" subculture or the mindhacking.

is that the one with the nanites that turned people into living guns and bombs? oh, wait, no, that's InExtremis. Another great EP -friend story arc for Iron-Man it was -more or less- adapted to television in Iron-Man Armored Adventures season 2

The Takeshi Kovacs novels are a must for any EP fan. I would highly recommend them. The 3rd novel is excellent.

Re: Comics/books that is Eclipse Phase -like?
Yea, Eclipse Phase has been very heavily influenced by the Takashi Kovacs series. Anyone who is a fan of the setting should give those books a read. I am pretty sure the entire "cortical stack" terminology actually comes from Richard K. Morgan and the Takashi Kovacs series (the concepts, however, have a long history dating back all the way to WW II. Though, I think it was Moravecs who first talked about downloading the human consciousness into a machine, but don't quote me on that one).

Re: Comics/books that is Eclipse Phase -like?
Just came across the comic Prophet, written by Brandon Graham (Image). It is a new version of some older comic, with the writers and artists doing their own thing with it. Set in a far future the supersoldier protagonist pursues various secretive goals on an Earth mostly inhabited by very alien creatures - maybe they are alien invaders, maybe they are degenerate posthumans. It is full of interesting, creepy and plain disgusting details that can provide plenty of material for biotechnology, enhancements, exhumans and aliens. Biodegradable spacecraft, biotech/nanotech shapeshifting utility armor, bizarre mixtures of symbiosis, parasitism and biotechnology, degenerating humanity and an Ultimate protagonist. I can definitely see the dolmantle as a tool used by a well-equipped hypercorp soldier - part pet, part tool, part armor, part spacesuit, part nanobandage.

The "Rogue Trooper" series that debuted in 1981 in British comic 2000AD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_Trooper) had its protagonist carrying the "Biochips" of his fallen companions, who were sleeved into his backpack, gun, helmet and rifle. They were capable of performing the equipment's functions autonomically and had full sentience/intelligence. One big difference to the Cortical Stacks of the Kovacs stories and Eclipse Phase was that the biochip had to be removed and installed into equipment a few minutes after the trooper died, otherwise the intelligence would be lost due to power failure. Rogue was a Genetic Infantryman or GI who was modified to survive the harsh chemical, virus and radiation-filled atmosphere of Nu Earth without needing respirators, radiation shielding etc, so he's a good example of a customised morph, too. He had bright blue skin!

I'm shocked - SHOCKED! - that no one here has mentioned Transmetropolitan! Gonzo style journalism in a Eclipse Phase style future. Surprisingly funny.

Re: Comics/books that is Eclipse Phase -like?
it's already in the corebook reference sheet, if my memories serves me well but yeah, Spider Jerusalem would make a kick ass character Actually, I had a CP 3.0 edgerunner that was loosely inspired by him, by the name of Alex Grant, having a newsfeed called News Hunter. Similar tone than Jerusalem had but more Edgerunner friendly. In EP, Alex would be Extropian or Titanese.

He does, one of the PCs in the campaign I'm running now is playing a character inspired by him and having enormous fun doing it. The "Dirty Pair" comics by Adam Warren- writer of the Iron Man: Hypervelocity storyline mentioned above- are also very much worth a look. Take a generic anime/manga Space Opera setting with scantily-clad heroines, and then have the licensed US adaption written by someone with serious Transhumanist ideas. All are worth reading, but "Run from the Future" and "Fatal (but not serious)" are my personal favourites.

Just picked up the first issue of "Hardcore" by image comics (be careful if you do a Google search for hardcore + image :P ) It's about a secret government organization that can hijack people's bodies by firing a device (the eponymous hardcore) into the neck. An agent then teleoperates the hijacked body to carry out assassinations.

I think I have to write him up again; I included him in my campaign a few times as a background character. I just went through my archives and I do not have the character sheet on my laptop; I think I have to search through my old laptop to find it. So much for having time to actually post my campaign notes for once...
