Campaign Kick-Off Idea... please critique!
This is an outline for a four session campaign kick-off that I'm planning. Looking for critiques and comments on the structure idea.
  1. The PCs go in for a standard backup at a clinic in Erato, before they are to be briefed on a mission. They fall asleep (which I'm suggesting isn't an unusual symptom of the process), but wake up and something is wrong... very wrong. They wake up in synthmorphs ("only thing I could find at a moment's notice"), with two days missing, and with a new, urgent mission. Their controller has no details about the outcome of the previous mission, but the new one really is the priority at this point. And getting out of Erato for the mission is complicated because of the fact there's a near-riot after synthmorph mercenaries allegedly cause a blood bath inside the HQ of a hypercorp based in Erato.
  2. Assuming they do get out... go on their mission... and survive...
  3. Their next mission is to recover their own cortical stacks from deep inside the HQ of a hypercorp based in Erato. Yep, same one. They go on that mission and if they succeed....
  4. They're sitting in a briefing, the one they got after they were in the backup clinic at the beginning of the campaign. This is the PCs integrating the memories of what happened, but it plays out as a regular mission. With a somewhat unfortunate ending.
All of this poses some big questions that lead to the next stage of the campaign. Any thoughts?

It's all in the exectution...
... of course. But it sounds good. My only thought off the top of my head is please don't make the PC's the synthmorph mercenaries who caused the blood bath. Way too predictable. That said, I am curious where all this is leading, and I do like the structure.

Not the Synthmorphs
please don't make the PC's the synthmorph mercenaries who caused the blood bath. No... but, I want them to think they could be until they discover the truth!

I've only been involved in
I've only been involved in one game of EP that DIDN'T start along those lines. I'd suggest making the "new" morphs the ones that everyone has on their character sheet though. That or explicitly tell everyone not to spend any points on their morph beyond the cost of a basic synth.

So that's either good or bad!

Just seemed to me to be the quick way to get players new to the setting aware.

One idea...
One thing you could do is to give the players say 50-100 bonus CP. Tell them to build A bodies that they also use. Then to design B bodies that they will be re-sleeved into if things go terrible. Hint that their B bodies are their eating and fucking bodies that they use for their non spy work. And that their A bodies are their "killbot, murder hobo discreet spy work" bodies. By saying it like that it'll encourage the PCs to start in synths. Which will make the "we were the synths mercenaries" inference for likely. Also for the 4th part. Be sure to OOC chat with the players and let them know that they might feel railroaded by the session because some things need to happen to make parts 1-3 work. Kindalas
