Black Tie at the Empire Casino
((Wei and Leng Plateau's Date in Elysium)) Wei stretched lazily as she waited for her date, she never got sore in synth morphs and outside of her usual gargoyle morph, she felt blind. The rust-skinned sylph wore a black sleeveless qípáo who's hemline ended slightly above the knee. Two golden dragons danced lazily across the smart-silk surface while her hair hung in a tight braid over her shoulder. She paid no attention to the plethora of bodies that rushed all across the terminal despite how early it was in the day. Instead focusing purely on the mesh activity; browsing stocks, social sites, searching for triad activities and reading Elysian news all at the same time. "I have something for you Fix." Turing, Wei's muse said, speaking British English. The AR panels faded away replaced with E-Horizon's latest announcement concerning their next gen mesh inserts they had been developing for a third party. She read the thing quickly, taking note of everything. "They're stalling." She answered to her muse in her native Mandarin. "There are very high chances of another delay, drop all my stock and reinvest in Nimbus, they'll probably get the contract next. Send a message to my contact asking for any relevant information." "Understood. Anything else, Fix?" "Not for now." She answered, going back to her Mesh feed. "Miss Leng is here." Wei dismissed the mist of stacked AR displays and he saw her approaching... "Displaying rep scores and searching for background information." Turing said, but he received no answer.

Arrival
Leng walked through the crowd, instinctively dodging those who weren't going to get out of her way with a sort of unconscious grace. She was tall, with pale blonde hair cascading down her shoulders, framing a classical face. In a calf length corset dress of black lace and satin she made an interesting figure, certainly not an outfit one would see in microgravity and so well suited to Mars or long lost Earth. Her muse poked her attention, *A bit to the left and there's your date Leng.* *Thank you Sparkle Pony* Leng altered her course through the crowd and smiled at the sight of Wei, when she spoke it was British English with the burr of a German accent, "I hope I'm not late. There was a small matter I needed to see too before getting ready."

Greetings
"It's quite lovely meeting you in person, Miss Leng. I'm Wei Anguó, but my friends call me Fixer." Wei said, speaking English this time, grinning proudly. "And don't worry, there is still some time left before the boarding, would you like some tea or do you prefer coffee?" As she spoke, Wei analyzed the streams of data being transmitted to her by Turing, looking for any holes revealing a false identity. Her expression remaining jovial, showing no hint of the multitasking she accomplished. ((OOC: Wei can be somewhat paranoid about people she meets. Although she rarely ever bring what she finds up unless the one concerned does. PS: In case you're wondering, Wei is the surname, Anguó the given name.))

Tea
"Tea would be lovely." she, smiles as the pair make their way to the nearby teashop. Leng orders English breakfast tea with a bit of lemon as they sit. Her profile bespeaks someone who doesn't get out much expect on a work basis, though on that side of things her reputation is quite good on the @-list. The history given by her mesh presence fits available facts well with the sole exception of the faint scar on the left side of her face, it shows up in all of her historical photos from the time of her resleeving from cold storage five years ago when the first photos of her show a bandage on her face. A small detail to be sure, but an oddity nonetheless. Her muse shows no sign of searching the mesh at the moment though, seeming to indicate that her personal attention is more on her date's presence than on her profile.

Wei sits down in the chair, holding her cup of Darjeeling Oolong tea with both hands, blowing on it gently, before taking the first sip of the still burning liquid as her muse keeps her informed. "I'm very glad you accepted my request. May I ask you what you do when no accompanying scoundrels such as I to elite venues?"

Life
She smiles and sips her tea, "Do you mean in my spare time or on the job?", there's an emotive little shrug, "I can answer both. In my spare time I mostly read, practice the violin, and peoplewatch. I'm afraid I don't have much of a social life... there's been so much of a jump between how I grew up and things out here in the wider system.", she pauses to consider for a moment, watching the tiny tics of her date's body language, "On the job, well, I'm sure you've seen my profile. I find people and ask nosy questions for other people. Usually personal matters or connections lost across time and mischance."

"Violin? Interesting choice,
"Violin? Interesting choice, I had an interest in music when I was younger but I lacked the free time to truly pursue it, I grew up in a milieu that was extremely academic oriented and 'frivolous undertakings' were discouraged. Then the fall happened and I had very little time for anything but work." She says, seeming nostalgic of the pre-fall days. "What about you, did you grow up on Mars?" (Although subtle, Wei's behavior would seems subdued to a kinesics expert, from the use of endocrine control augmentation.)

Earth
"Earth actually. I was in residential school until I was eighteen and our fall came. They were positively insistent on a classical education, which meant literature, music, dance, as well as more modern topics." She considers her tea for a moment, "Things were different but also similar. As to Mars? I've lived here for the last four years, I rather like it and prefer not to travel too far. Gravity is nicer for skirts, don't you think?"

Magic of Skirts
"True, I've never been very adept at moving about microgravity, although the latest trend in dress and skirts design have begun using magnetism and electrostatic fields to control the movement of the cloth and keep them consistent under all types of gravity. But I'm not too used to wearing them, Synth morphs don't usually wear clothes."

Leng Plateau Leng Plateau's picture
Skirts and synths
She frowns slightly, "I don't think I could really live in a cyberbrain, but to each their own, yes? All in all the skirts are probably nostalgia and classism but I really do like how they move under gravity." As Leng finds the bottom of her cup she sighs, "That really is quite good tea." (Amusingly both Wei and Leng possess endocrine control augmentation. What Leng lacks in technological skills she more than makes up for with a level kinesics reading which would best be described as unnatural. As a secondary note, depending on how good Turing is at it's job it may pick up the data trail of a second Leng visiting a small private spaceship while the first is finishing her tea)

Cyberbrain
"Some people have problems adapting to non-biological morph and due to their poor reputation, many simply don't want to. It can be quite an acquired taste. Personally, I avoid sleeving into morph not adapted to the local environment which has caused me to hoard nano-blueprints of personal augmentation." Wei explained, finishing her own cup. "For example, this morph while originally made as an exalt combines traits from Alpiner morph to survive outside of domed cities." A small window pops in her private AR display, showing data about Leng's parallel movements. She can't help but raise an eyebrow but offhandedly dismisses the window. "Our flight should be loading just about now." She says dismissively. ((Wei programmed his own muse to aid in his many illegal and quasi-legal endeavor (Lots of Corporate espionage), Turing programmed mainly for data analysis, electronic intrusion, in depth background research and pattern recognition.))

Departure
Rises, "Well then ma'am, shall we catch our flight?" As they walk she comments, "It's partially cyberbrains and partially very high levels of attachment to my natal morph... or at least something very similar. I suppose that's a bit old fashioned."

Synthmorph
"Well, if you ever need to sleeve into a synth morph, I know a guy who slot them with biological brains, originally as an art project, but apparently some people feel more comfortable in them and they don't risk being hacked." As they walk, Wei finish registering the tickets, linking the second one to Leng's ID and forwarding the first class electronic ticket to her muse. "Are you still in your original morph? That's a rare feat for earth survivors." She ask as the two pass by security. ((Wei is actually searching for any holes in her story, again due to mild paranoia.))

Cryonics
"I was in cold storage, literally. Cryotube, one of the old sleeper ships, I think it was mostly a museum piece." She slides into her seat on the airliner beside Wei, "Unfortunately very few of us made it out when we fell. It's a bit of a painful topic... you said you enjoyed music? What genre?" As she shifts topic she seems very genuine and likable, a person worth trusting. (Her story doesn't truly add up if poked at too much. On the other hand she feels ever so trustworthy. And if Wei has any access to Firewall... Leng Plateau comes up as a person of interest.)

The joy of Music
"Well, I used to play piano, but that was ages ago. Oddly enough of all the music I've listened, old English progressive and punk rock were the styles that caught my ears the most. I've even managed to acquire an original vinyl pressing of The wall by Pink Floyd. I actually collect vinyl records as a hobby although most of them were simply built in a maker, still searching through archives for the specs is relaxing." She answered, ordering a Piña colada from the hostess. "What about you, any particular genre that you love?"

Music
"My favorite music is the material I can play, classical, folk, filk. After that music that's good to dance to, especially old dance music. Waltzes, tango, swing." She pauses to order a gin and tonic. "I prefer live to recorded. The music comes alive then."

"I'd love to hear you play someday. It must truly be a delight for the ears." Wei responds with a smile, sipping her drink slowly, for a moment ignoring the stream of data sent to her by Turing.

Leng sips her drink, savoring the bite of it, "I'd be happy to play for you at some point. Do you prefer violin or fiddle? It's a difference in stance and style of play."

[Downloading samples to your mesh inserts, Fix, as well as documents on musical style and theory that seem relevant.] Turing declared, anticipating his owner's needs. [Thank you, Turing.] She answered, mentally. As she continues to talk, she reviews the transfered information using her multitasking implant. "If I may say, your dress is lovely. Is there a particular reason you like the Neo-Victorian fashion?"

Fashion
"The style... hmmm... I think it's because I cut my teeth of Victorian writing. It also has some things in common with our world. A time where tradition and change were pressing close to each other and yet few people seemed to get the implications of that." She pauses to consider while admiring her date's dress, "It's also mildly eccentric, restricting, yet comfortable, and in my opinion dead sexy."

"Oh I couldn't agree more on that last part, Miss Leng." Wei smiled. "I'm afraid my own outfit pale in comparison to yours." She ping the hostess, asking for a stronger drink, Rum this time, and sent a command to her medical augments to stand down for the evening.

Don't sell yourself short
While the hostess is present Leng orders another gin and tonic, "Please don't sell yourself short, you have a lovely sense of style which your morph accents wonderfully." "So, it's only fair to ask, what do you do when not taking girls out to the ball?"

Work
"Mainly work. I've set myself as an independent information broker in New Shanghai but I also do work that is quasi-legal in nature as a Fixer. Which is how I got the nickname, it's old criminal lingo for someone who makes illicit arrangements; morphs, weapons, technology, information, data, you name it, I can procure it." Taking the drink from the hostess, she drinks it in a single go, asking for another. "I admit having little time for personal pleasantries, but tonight is a special occasion."

Special
Leng cocks her head, "We live in the same city, well that is good to know. What's the occasion tonight? You said that someone was using it to show off her new line but I'm getting it's more than that, yes?" She looks at the third drink, "Unless you're bypassing all of those you might want to slow down a touch, otherwise dancing will be difficult."

Agenda
"Well, I am meeting some more moderate members of the movement, tonight as well as dancing the usual dance of corporate intrigue. Due to my dealings with the corps, I've earned quite the black mark in the @-List, but some members decided to contact me." When the hostess arrives with the third drink, Wei drinks it more slowly. "There are also quite a lot of connected people that will be attending and it is the perfect occasion to build networks." "As for the alcohol, my medicine are set to only allow mild intoxication, regardless of the quantity in ingest."

Good to know
"Ah, good to know, about the alcohol I mean, I'll adjust my own tolerances to match. As for our @-list friends, I make a good pairing for you for the night. I work for individuals and not organizations so my corp-rep is only marginal but I've credibility on the @ and with the Barsoomians." She smiles, "Was that planned? Or just a bonus to go with a good plus one?"

"Completely unplanned. I merely wanted someone to have around to enjoy the evening, the politics of such events can be quite exhausting so I felt that company would be much welcome. And a quick search on you gave me the impression you would be very fitting for that role. As for Rep Scores, while I do have decent scores, many autonomist resent the fact I have sided with corps in some instances, favoring practicality over ideology." (Wei's Repscores are extremely high in both C-Rep & G-Rep, Good with F-Rep, and decent with both I-Rep and @-Rep. Although the last one has some nasty black marks.)

Gives a genuine smile, "Well you are indeed charming. You know I've never gone to a society event for social reasons before, let alone with a date." She shrugs, "But then my dating experience is very limited, what with going to an all-girls school and being left out of step with the solar system by events." Social Events
An eyebrow raises, "You were... you know, I had not considered that fact. Interesting." "As for social events, yes, sometimes it's the best way to find the person you're looking for. It's two sides of the same profession really, you look for information using computer networks and information. I do the same thing with people." She shrugs, "Which is odd I suppose, I have almost no social life and often am uncomfortable with people but my profession is learning about them."

Naming conventions.
"Oh, pardon me, I forget that not everyone is knowledgeable about Chinese naming conventions or individual names. Anguó is a male given name and I spent the early years of my life in a male morph. Although I admit having no particular feelings of belonging to either gender." Wei finishes her drink before setting it down in the tray. "Also in case you did not know, Wei is my family name."

Names
Leng nods, "I'm afraid that I don't speak any form of Chinese, so I wasn't aware of that. So, Anguo then, I tend to think of people as whatever gender they present as." "For myself I'm very firmly female identified... although I'm... well honestly not entirely sure about my orientations." Then she switches topics with a slightly flustered look, "As for my own name, I'm afraid that I've been named with a nontraditional name that's a literary reference rather than a person's name. For some reason it doesn't raise comment on Mars though."

She blinks, "That's a first, nobody else has gotten that one off the bat." There's a grin, "Languages? Native German, Classical Latin, that's the side effect of my education, and then English and Arabic to function well on Mars. The Latin is borderline useless these days but still interesting."
