Attacking with two melee weapons?
Hi, I've been wondering about the rule for attacking with two (or more) melee weapons. The book says you get a penalty for using your off-hand, but attacking with two weapons in close combat is resolved as one attack. Should the penalty be applied to this one attack? E.

I'd assume yes, it is hard to properly use two weapons at the same time. So the penalty should be for "both" attacks.

Yes, that would be my answer too. Any "official word" on this? :) E.

Not necessarily. It is an off-hand penalty, and that should only apply to your off-hand. That said, you should note the multiple target penalty for firing with two guns (aiming two weapons at the same target isn't as hard as you might think).

In the errata, we note that the off-hand penalty does not apply to two-weapon (or more) melee attacks.

So I have a question how two-weapon fighting looks in EP. Example my char is using two rail pistols. Now does he has two attacks in one Action? And can he aim two different targets as well as one, and still use only one Action for it? And what about penetly? Does my char has -20 penetly for using two pistols? And is this penetly for two pistols or only for this in "weaker" hand? And I assume that to avoid this penetly I have to take Ambidextrous ego trait, right? And reload is longer or the same for two pistols? Thanks for anwers.

You have to take two reload actions to reload both of your pistols. This means that fully reloading takes twice as long as it does for those with one weapon. On the other hand, you also have twice the ammo, and twice the firing rate. There are perks, trust me; I love playing an octomorph soldier... nothing strikes fear into the enemy like tri-wielded sniper rifles!

O, thx very. But what about penetly (-20). Do I have to take Ambidextrous ego trait to cancel this penetly?

Yes you do. For every weapon you wield in a limb with which you do not have the ambidextrous trait (or is not your dominant limb) you recieve a -20 penelty to the attack. The full rules for wielding multiple weapons can be found on page 206 Core. Which is one of the reasons that Sniper Octopi are quite rare. They are possible, but either expensive as hell to do right (Ambidextrous for 7 other limbs) or they somehow manage to counter act the massive penalties that they receive.
