So, today I was posting on /tg/, when a thread about lost civilisations turned into one about alternate evolutionary paths, and someone posted a lot of images about the animals of Snaiad (unfortunately, the author's original site is gone), and I have to say, I was really impressed with how well thought out they were, having a veneer of familiarity while still making them fundamentally alien.
That got me thinking about alien biospheres in general, reminding me of things like the jungles of Pandora from Avatar, and the dusty badlands of Darwin IV from Alien Planet. Anyone else have any good examples of well-detailed alien ecospheres?
