EP and Mass Effect
I wasn't sure where to put this topic - if it's in bad place, pleas to move it properly. I have a question to you about idea to use some of ME setting things for EP game. For example, the whole theory of Mass Effect is enoguht interesting and belivable for me to use it as Pandora Gates solution and other, "ancient alien technology". Do you share this view? Or is it I, or is Firewall truly the organisation very like the Cerberus from ME univarse? Secret agents, almost terrorist like aproche, puting humanity about anything else...

Well, you could certainly move ME (without having played the second one yet) into the world of EP. Indeed, though they don't officially work in that sense nor are they so old, you could envision the Gates as being created by an ancient race to harvest the living; and certainly Firewall is partially a secret organization with humankind's survival as its top priority (though it is not linked to any kind of government, unlike Cerberus that answers to the Council of Three). Moving EP inside ME would be much more difficult as EP's techonology is futuristic, while ME's technology is present day technology with a futuristic look.

Cerberus doesn't answer to anybody except of The Illusive Man - it was a part of Human Alliance Intelligence long ago, but now it's "gone rogue". We need to remember, that Mass Effect isn't transhumanist (trans-species?) because of Council banning AGI and gene studies. Even Medi-Gel was limited due to it's gene-tweaking nature. Transhumanist themes are usually associated with the Geth and the Reapers (sic!), which makes ME more like "space opera" than real "science fiction".

Aaaaand do not forget about alien species. In EP aliens are truly alien, and in ME we've got a bunch of humanoid species who use a vocal communication and a grammar of their languages is similar enough to translate them through some simple devices. Most of them have anatomy similar to humans or other species living on Earth (space salamanders, space reptiles, space avian-reptiles, space BIG STUPID JELLYFISH ;) ), their cultures may differ from our but there are obvious references to other human cultures and believes. Also, green (blue) skinned space babes. It's not a hard sf, it's not even close. EDIT: Also biotic powers in ME and psi powers in EP base on different principles. Biotics use Element Zero to manipulate (big) physical objects (telekinesis) while Watts-Macleod strain lets asyncs influence minds bound to a organic brains (telephaty).

I haven't played ME2 yet and it's been a while since I played ME1 but it seems you could use ME's prometheans as EP's iktomi and ME's reapers as EP's ETIs
That which doesn't kill you usually succeeds on the second attempt.

Nah. The Ectomi would just be yet another extinct civilization (be they exterminated by the Exsurgent Virus or the Reapers), and the Reapers would probably just be yet another set of minions deployed by the ETI, like the Bracewell Probes. They'd either be a failsafe the exterminate everyone who doesn't trigger the Exsurgent Virus, or a set of specimen containers for ETI, to contain and preserve the memories of extinct species. Also, a [url=http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Eclipse%20Phase]... to something relevant; take a look at the last few threads on there.
