Coming from the thread Extremely Loud Noise Effects I started to wonder why cortical stacks are not easily combustible. Wikipedia says diamonds start to oxidise in air at 700 °C. What could be the speculative, or even factual, answer to that question?

Diamond like materials or
Diamond like materials or coatings can be used to prevent that. Unlike diamond some of them are not easily combustible. Also composit coating can easily grant fireproofing. Diamond starts to decompose in hydrogen at 1500 °C.
We don't know the information storage method in cortical stacks, it presumably accumulates errors at lower temperatures.
Also it could be argued that stacks are well isolated so slagging a stack would require long exposure to very high temperature.
