What are the most unusual homebrew factions you have created?
As the subject says. The weird and (not so) wonderful ideologies, political strains, cults and fads that could potentially populate an Eclipse Phase campaign. To get the ball, rolling, a line I came across.
Quote:
Computationalist Essentialism: only the intrinsic powers of silicone allow true computation, brains merely simulate it
The cults that could form from that one alone!

My players were highly amused
My players were highly amused when one of the NPCs they wound up working with on Mars (who normally lived on the Get Your Ass to Mars scum swarm, which was at that time swinging past Mars,) whilst heading off to a possibly-fatal encounter after already having had one fatal encounter, decided to fabricate herself a full copy of Ezio Auditore's Roman Assassin Robes and a pair of hidden blades. (The robe and hood were smart material for camoflauge, of course.) One of them recognized the outfit in-character (brilliant roll on an interests: old sci-fi roll,) and laughed his ass off. So of course after they wound up on the Swarm a few days later (and after a week had passed,) they looked her up. After the trauma of the mission, which included her original body getting blown all to fuck, she'd retreated into the Swarm's simulspace environment of 1715, which was by then a general mash-up of all the interesting shit that happened from basically 1685 to 1815-ish or so (IE, you visit North America and the American Revolution is going on; visit the Carribbean and the Golden Age of Piracy is still in full swing, visit continental Europe and the French Revolution is chopping heads off as fast as the guillotine can be lifted, etc.) All viewed through the lens of Assassin's Creed; though the original 1715 set-up had featured some of the iconic weapons of the series, whomever had set up the GYAtM swarm's 1715 simulspace environment had been a buff and had gone the full nine yards, and eventually it reached critical mass where folks started building Assassin Bureaus and Templar Headquarters, etc, and they wound up dividing into two camps; Assassins and Templars, naturally. Their bloodsoaked digital fued carries over into meatspace rivalries, with elaborate outfits, freerunning competitions, and only the very occasional murder by wrist-mounted knife/broadsword, and more than once when attempting to call upon that NPC, she's told them she can't help them now as she's stalking someone across the rooftops of Venice or fleeing for her life from a Templar-helmed ship of the line. My players find it hilarious, though (perhaps sadly,) none of them have decided to join in. Probably for the best; MMORPGs will eat your lives, don'cha know? :)

I just finish a book where
I just finish a book where everyone had a letter or a letter's series for name (La Zone du Dehors from Alain Damassio, I don't know the english title so it ruffly translate to : The Exterior Zone) it goes like this 26 persons are the head of the governement. A being prime minister/president, P minister of interior security, E minister of education, etc. A being the more "powerful" (is being elected, technically) behind each "one letter people" you have their staff of "two letters people" like, in the book, Af who is A secretary, Pq (in french : PQ=Papier Cul=Ass Paper) who is a subaltern of P and after that you have the 3 letters, 4 letters and 5 letters (who are the bottom of the society and do no-fun jobs like recycle old radioactive space junks) each 4 years everyone is changing is name(thus changing his place in the society), people can choose to keep their place if they go up (less letters name) but they cannot keep their name is they go down (Afg to AvnT for example) you divide the habitat in five, the 5 letters cannot go out of the fifth zone, the 4 letters can go to the fifth and fourth zone, etc. with the addition of a sixth zone : The Exterior. This Zone don't have a judicial existence, so technically you can go but because of the panopticon if you go to the exterior you will be filmed and categorized as a trouble seeker, witch is not good in a control freak society and, for the end, you put an Orwelian touch with : denouncing someone give you point who will convert into a new place at next cycle's end is it clear ?

What do you mean a butterfly cause this ? How a butterfly can cause an enviromental system overload on the other side of a 10 000 egos habitat ?
