So a synthetic mask on a morph makes them look human (or like whatever animal they are shaped as). But at what point would the mask take enough damage that the person's true nature would be visibly obvious?
Some jerk who tries to bury a diamond axe in the synth's chest would probably immediately notice a "clang" where there should be a "crunch", but I'm thinking that bystanders would not be able to tell until the synth has two wounds or more, or has lost at least half of their durability. And yes, I'm thinking of the first Terminator movie when Arnold emerges from the burning wreckage as just a metal endoskeleton.
