beatings for bucks
had an idea for a criminal org that hacks your mesh id and adds a bounty for random people to kick your ass. so when somebody looks at your simsense a big "punch this guy earn 300 creds, beat the hell out of him earn 1500 click here for details" pop up comes up, click on the link an if you beat him up and send a recording you get paid the bounty amount (works like an online auction) I want totally random strangers trying to beat up the PCs everywhere they go with them having no clue why until somebody outside the party tells em why. how would this actually work?
"what do I want? The usual — hundreds of grandchildren, complete dominion over the known worlds, and the pleasure of hearing that all my enemies have died in highly improbable accidents that cannot be connected to me."

Sounds reasonable. The trick
Sounds reasonable. The trick here is to make the transactions untraceable, so it is hard to stop the money - this is where criminal hackers really enjoy coming up with tricks, like using hacked 'zombie' processors and remote mesh systems, as well as untraceable currencies. Might work extra good with rep: you get g-rep for doing it, and particular badass beatings will get a bigger bonus. Another issue is law enforcement. They will of course frown on this, and try to stop people who beat up others. So this trick works best when the victim is unwilling to go to the police, where the police is weak, or there are enough idiots who think they will get away with it to attack the victims. In "Distraction" by Bruce Sterling there is a related idea, where the enemies of a character dumps his personal info and some suitable conspiracy theories in the lap of a long list of unstable people profiled to be likely to attack him.

This makes me wonder how popular assassination markets are in Eclipse Phase. This also makes me wonder how they might evolve to fill niches in certain power dynamics when death is at best an insurance settlement or RMA complicating matters somewhat.

You can still take people out
You can still take people out of the game. Kidnap them and send regular proof of life. That keeps them from getting restored from backup to just resume the business the client wants them out of.
