So this is how the Fall looked like(movie clip)/Jovian propaganda
I imagine this could be a propaganda movie by Jovian Republic showing one of their elite soldiers and event of the Fall(I always believed that JR has 80s/early 90s style propaganda like the cartoons and sf based in that era-for example Cyborg with Van Damme or Silver Hawks) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnuJyJBM_J4

I think the main character is
I think the main character is too cybered up to be the protagonist in a Jovian film. Needs more skin. Not showing, mind you.

I nearly impulse-bought this
I nearly impulse-bought this game as a result of accidental exposure to Steam's basilisk hacks, but this [url=http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/04/30/wot-i-think-far-cry-3-blood-d... PaperShotgun review[/url] purged the infection before it cost me any money. The marketing is undeniably brilliant though.

I don't mind. It's cheap enough and you don't have a better product on the market right now with that atmosphere. As to Jovians-they are quite ok with cybernetics in the book, I think people overestimate their opposition to technology, it's very selective.

and I'm all out of gum
I have purchased the game, I've played it and I've beaten it. The technology is set in the Far Future of 2007, so it's retro-future. It's a good romp that has captured the feel of first-person-shooters of the early 90ies, it never take itself seriously as a parody shouldn't. It has a better duke nukem feel than duke nukem forever. The bad guy could be ripped out of the game and turned into a bad guy for Eclipse Phase, with just a little modification.

Agreed. I think the Jovians are totally okay with augmenting their body. They are opposed to uploading their mind and resleeving. It's like they are stuck in a cyberpunk setting and do not want advance into a transhuman one. That makes them conservative (relatively to the rest of humanity), but they are still fine with technology that would be called progressive by todays standards. And besides, a singularity seeker or posthuman will classify the average EP transhuman as conservative too.

All political views are relative. A conservative today tends to be pretty progressive in comparison to conservatives a century ago. It's almost mandatory... only the Amish stick to their views in the face of technological progress. Even then, I've seen fairly progressive Anabaptist groups. If there were any truly conservative (in our context) groups still alive near the modern day in EP's setting, they would have likely died off by the Fall. Flats are an ever-decreasing rarity, reducing their chances to find someone to breed with (conservatives today often shun tech like In Vitro, and definitely shun cloning and exowomb births). That would make them a truly dying breed with little odds of survival.
