I just found out from the Sci-Fi London newsletter that Arc (digital magazine from the makers of New Scientist about tomorrow's technologies and societies) has a free sample issue available. It was immediately interested when I saw names like Bruce Sterling, China Miéville and M. John Harrison(?).
The prose to facts ratio is rather high, but I enjoyed reading some of it like the "Adult pursuits" (not what it sounds like...), "Bad Vibrations" (which is about how emotionally powerful it can be to force a character in a game to do something against their will) and "Breaking the Fall" which is a piece on various groups who are preparing for a future world where the economy and then civilization collapses.
Some short stories too which I haven't read so report on those if they are any good please.
