So, Just what is Nectar/Luna like?
So, Just what is Nectar/Luna like? Ive been reading the Core and Sunward for info so I can write up and draw up a rough guide map to Nectar. Am I imagining this or (and keep in mind that I have never been to East coast USA, and am basing my opinion on movies of the last 30 years...) is this based upon New York? - Cosmopolitan atmosphere. - large parks - gangs centered around common culture and language - center of the banking district and fashion hub - old area where poor live (in synthmorphs) Throw Manhattan inside a cave, link via tunnels to Queens and surrounds, throw Central Park in there and it sounds like what I imagine New York to be.. If this is a good comparison then I could use Manhattan streets and districts as basis to draw my own map of Nectar (and Old Nectar). Thanks for reading and your input.. Regards Jason Brisbane

So,
So, Ive created a first attempt at a district map for Nectar. Yes I have taken heavily from an online Map of Manhattan, created it as an oval shape (inside a bubble), with names primarily as names of districts. I realise that this may offend some people - I apologize in advance is this is the case... I used Inkscape and when grid is turned on, the map shows as I would imagine streets... The black edges are parts of the bubble that rise too high and tunnels go off into disused caves, other complexes, tunnels to other cities, etc Yes there are references ot upper, lower, north, west, east, etc ... The elite of old nectar wanted somewhere that was a home of the elite and came up with Upper East Side amnd Upper West Side. Other groups came up with other names ot spite them and the rest fell into pace. These names are what locals call them. East Harlem is home to the Steel Liberators almost exclusively. What I plan to do is to writeup a description for each district, probably with a few people in each district (NPC's, shopkeepers who sell physical items or hardline access to information they want to sell, crime gangs and/or lords, etc). Once Ive written up the sections I may change the district names to something more ........ EP. But Id like some ideas as to what names might suit better in the EP setting.... Would these be ok? If the section is inhabited primarily by Mexican speakers, should i use a mexican/spanish name for the district? Your ideas would be greatly appreciated... Let me know what you think.... I hope this link works... http://s1307.beta.photobucket.com/user/Jason_Brisbane/media/Nectar_zps0a... PS: Admins, can you move this into Homebrew? Thanks!

An update to my Map
Here is an upate to my map. Ive got this in a wiki on my PC - I like how I can organise my game notes in it, so this is a cut n paste from that. Harlem The poorest of the poor, these morphs are very proud of their neighborhood and almost everyone is in a gang, or is affiliated with a gang and thus allowed to stay. Rows of Apartments complexes, each crammed with morphs with between 5 and 12 in a single room. Apartments that are empty and there for a reason - primarily to facilitate gangs, meetings, safehouses and storehouses. Everyone in the complex knows ot stay clear of those rooms through word of mouth - some things stay clear of the net. Those not in a gang often have their biomorphs purchased and get resleeved in cases or synths in exchange for food, rent or other staples to kep their family alive. The children of these poor parents often return to have their child now following the gang member who got resleeved in their body! Gangs here are primarily North American based cultures, although a significant number of Canadian, Alaskan and even Russian gangs and morphs (as well as ego's) are based here: primarily in apartments where everyone there in is from that culture. Whilst not Triad based, the gangs here are primarily staging gangs for the Triads who recruit from here those who prove that loyalty to the members are greater than that to family. Ironically those who are taken in are almost always expended in attacks on rival strongholds, deal with exsurgent threats or other equally long-lived lifestyle choices. The Nine Lives Cartel is particularly interested in capturing entire families morphs, especially when one or more family members displays exceptional abilities on one or another area. Mexicalis similar to socio-economics to harlem, this area is almost a carbon copy in lifestyle, violence, gangs, fear and hatred to Harlem. The difference is that is is filled with Mexicans or those of Central American or Pan-American (Dominican Republic, Columbian, Venezualan, Brazilian, Argentinian, and Mexican) background. Streets are littered with poor living off begging or selling information on strangers, visitors, monitoring and xp logs uploading for criminal gangs to monitor exactly who is on their turf. Composed Primarily of bio-morphs who need food to survive, they also house a significant number of cases, synths, Steel Morphs (various types) and Spider Morphs. Hatred and fear are predominant and the AR Ectos get flooded with AR ads of "We Dont Like Strangers, We Love them with Sauce", "Get Out and Stay Out", and "If you can read this ad then your already being resleeved". This is however a good place for: Drugs, Guns, Medichines, and even GSP (Genetic Service Pack) Clinics - assuming you can afford the high prices and can get out alive. There are also a few apartments (primarily on the East Side) where Chinese and Indian poor are based. These are always gang affiliated (Triad, etc). A small number of people are believed to be affiliated with several Gangs: The Night Cartel are interested in those who display above average entrepreneurial discipline. [edit] Chelsea Primarily Residential Houses a few At home businesses with fabbers, etc Eg: Cloth Makers for Central Art Gallery of Luna Resedential houses are spacious and well sort after by those in poorer socioeconomic areas. Houses ARE closer together though. Houses are primarily multi story dwellings with spacious areas between floors, sweeping views of tree-scapes and park lands and balconies and rooftops for flight. [edit] Greenwich Village home to most of the middle class upper middle class on NE side and lower middle class of SW side. home to the PC's Substantial middle class population lives here and work all over Nectar in other districts Home to several nightclubs, and bars, cafes and restaurants, catering to most bio-morphs tastes, including poisonous dishes for those with medichines... [edit] Soho Home to the cultured and ultra elite: primarily artists. Home to Little India and Little China both of which are quite Ethnocentric They do not insult openly but are very sympathetic: "Oh, your of American Stock? I'm so sorry..." Artists, Bounty hunters, and other specialists and services can be found here, including the most renown infobrokers in Luna. [edit] Little Spain Primarily inhabited by those of Spanish descent, or those from Spanish bio-morphs and thus accepted as such by default. Primarily Spanish businesses, or those of Sanish origin (excepting Mexican) and urban middle class to poor class On the East side nearest Soho, there are a few clashes with indian and chinese (re: triad) gangs. Home to most of the Celebrations that came form Earth (ie St Patricks Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chinese New Year, etc. [edit] East Harlem Aka: Steel City home to the poorest mainly in synthmorphs Home to the Steel Liberators movement - anyone claiming this district as their home is assumed to be a member of this movement. Buildings have little to no support services (cheaper = no services: eg air, heating, etc) At any one time, several buildings are quarantined due to "unknown dangers", presumably Exsurgents but this is usually ignored within the month. As the "danger" is usually just a take by gangs to fid something, someone, etc [edit] Metro Park Grassland, trees, animals, and secure area for wild animals. Large area for flying and walking, etc includes area for cycling, drag racing and other powered vehicular sports Location of Nectar Zoo, over 20 hectares... [edit] Midtown an Extension of Finance First, it is primarily a business district but also full of hotels, offices and retail establishments, media corporations, theatres and shows (VR, etc). Also has a Colosseum where people fight to the death - ego backups included for combatants. [edit] Downtown= Mostly apartments for those in midtown, Central and Finance First. Few Local shops for the staples. Has a few warehouses on the west side spilling into Steel City). [edit] Upper West Side Comprised of what was on old Earths NYC as Brownstones, these are 4-5 story apartment complexes of enormous size. Often housing not only a family, but servants and staff who also live on the premises, they are frequently considered to be members of the same socio economic class, albeit on the lower side of boorishly wealthy. The people sleeved here may be of any sexual and racial type and are frequently the type found on other areas of the solar system - and frequently the most open to ideas. However those who live here have a strange mindset in that they don't want others to be as free and open as they are and keep people locked down into a poorer class through socio-centric and sexual-centric stereotypical behaviors. Those who come from upper class stick are said to "The Gentry" a term they admire. Respect is earned if one is to be of the Gentry. However you can expect avenues to be of limits and to be shunned if evidence of this is not found on The Mesh. [edit] Upper East Side Referred to as the 'Silk Stocking" District. Almost a carbon copy of Pre-Fall New York's Upper East Side, from which this district took its name, there are a few mansions here for the ultra-wealthy. Security is tight and a few of Luna only Nano-bots are here designed to keep out intruders who do not posess the ego ID's of those who are allowed. Infrequently a member of a visiting state is kept in various "safe-houses" whilst ego ID checks, evidence of forking ( or not) is checked to allow the Ego ID to be inserted into the Nano-bot Mesh for a Limited time for a visit of several hours to several weeks. Overstaying your welcome is not recommended. This is also home to the only Churches on Nectar: a Neo-Buddhist Temple, a Techno-creationists (ironic since these protective individuals are maintained by more technology than most can afford and have frequent backups of their morphs. Whilst basics are sought after, they cant stand the lack of gravity on Luna and so only modern morphs can live comfortably here for extended periods! [edit] Battery Hill Park Memorial to Fall Survivors everywhere and others who have fallen for humanity has ship and defense satellite from Earth in here: now a tourist attraction and Souvenir shop. Has T shirts "I escaped from Earth and Al I got was this t Shirt!" has a sizable parkland and walkways with balconies, suitable for the many flight sports here and used by many for tourist flyights. [edit] Finance First Business District Banks and High end companies Primarily Local companies but up to 50% are well known system wide companies. [edit] Central Aka: Fashion Central Not a Centrally located District but called Fashion Central, and Central has stuck. Numerous fashion houses, clothing manufacture companies and research companies, including intelligent clothing and all sorts of strange research that might otherwise be classified as "dangerous". clothes shops and department stores including those selling blueprints for fabbers (last years stock?) I hope this inspires a few ideas for your own game...
