TED: Building Unimaginable Shapes
http://www.ted.com/talks/michael_hansmeyer_building_unimaginable_shapes.... A visually stunning presentation about algorithmically-generated architectural forms, intricate and bizarre enough to be beyond all imaginative conception, at least of those without a good hookup. Excellent TITAN/exsurgent inspiration.

Awesome.
Awesome. As he and others noted, this is not (currently) about effectiveness but idea that can kick-start a revolution. (What I really like is promotion of 3D printing, and if it is made popular by purple, screaming monkeys, I 'm all for it ;)
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.

His website has more nice stuff: http://www.michael-hansmeyer.com/ The method seems to be based on the Catmull-Clark and Doo-Sabin algorithms for surface subdivision, with different weightings (they are normally used to smooth surfaces rather than complicate them). Here is a technical paper. This is the kind of architecture you can easily make once you have bots or fabbers.
