Greetings and Wikitataions: Working on the Wikia
First and foremost greetings to you all. I'm just a silly person who happens to like the setting and decided to take up working on the Wikia that was placed up and linked off the main site. I've started in the Equipment, particularly the Weapon Section of it, and I am working my way up through there. Weapon Section There's still a lot of work to be done to make it a worthwhile part of the community, but is something to do in my free time. I've only noticed the Darkcast Wiki as I started browsing more, but I'm not sure I could really be a large help there with as well structured as it is already. So being that this one needed work I've set myself to a Wiki Syntax I know with the Wikia Version. As much as I'd like to say I have a firm grasp on everything, I've got a decent one on it. I've never actually been able to get anyone to sit down and play, but I'm hoping one day I can. Here's hoping to have fun with you all!

This is a great resource, thanks. I can see using this on my smart phone while playing quick solutions or info.

The problem is that most GMs are going to make many houserules. For example, I've changed suppression fire to be more useful and logical, as well as melee becoming more dangerous.

House Rules are fine and always interesting to learn. I setup the Homebrew Section for just such a purpose. I haven't figured out the best way to setup everything for the section, but it's there so player content can be added and shown off as well. The best thing I've done to mark Homebrew is I added a template that puts an icon at the top of the page when the user types {{Homebrew}} to mark the content as such. I really believe it can be great if people want to add to it. I personally would love to see how much creativity could be added.

Looks awesome! My only concern is that there already is an Eclipse Phase wiki: http://www.firewall-darkcast.com/wiki/welcome-darkcast-wiki We should probably try to keep things consolidated if possible.

Re: Greetings and Wikitataions: Working on the Wikia
Well as I said in the in the first post, I'm not sure I could help with the Darkcast version. I know wikia syntax pretty well and it was fairly abandoned when I first go there. I've added around 200 pages working on the gear section of the main book in the past week or so. I really doubt anything I put on the wikia will be too useful to people already using the Darkcast wiki, but in a stronger sense it helps me understand the rules better by going over and sorting things out where they are in my head. I'm just a silly person as I said before, I don't really do anything that's really amazing. Heck I haven't even been able to play a game of Eclipse Phase.

Well I'm genuinely impressed, and it will certainly be handy for me. Keep it up!

Work is moving along on the Wiki. Core Book Cyberware is Complete. Core Book Bioware is Complete. Core Book Nanoware is Complete. Soon I'll have robotic Enhancements done too.

Uh, small issue. Plasma Rifles are Semi-automatic, at least according to the 3rd edition book, not single-shot.

Re: Greetings and Wikitataions: Working on the Wikia
Hrm how strange! I suppose my copy must be older then. The 1.2.1 Errata doesn't adjust that value. Though are you sure the rifle is Semi Automatic with all the overheating and what not? I tried to get some of the Errata in where I could, but I'm really working on putting what I had listed on the Wikia already and updating it. By chance, I can't find the version number myself in my book, where is it located so I can double check? And the Wikia is free to edit, so if I mess something up feel free to fix it. I kinda feel dumb since now it seems I might have outdated references, but I can always fix it as people provide.

Thank you for these. [s]Is the stripped version 3rd or 2nd Printing? Last I knew it was 2nd.[/s] Just downloaded it for my Kindle Fire. Looks great. Thanks!

Another idea I just had... how much work would it take for you to make just the rules part of the book? Take out the opening fiction, setting info, and the GM section, and just leave the middle rules parts? That would make a nice, small reference PDF for tablets during game, and speed up rules searches.

This is one of the things
This is one of the things that is being somewhat worked on with the Wikia. There will be ways to search the terms and find what you're looking for.

Do you want the color graphics and everything removed, as in the stripped version, or just have those other pages omitted, as with the players version? The latter is easier, and I could probably pound it out in a few minutes. The former might take a bit longer.

Agreed, and the wikia will be a better option should you have a mobile phone and access to the internet, but a reduced version of the PDF works wonders when internet access isn't an option. At least until they make a viable and effective wiki downloader program that handles more than Wikipedia (the few I know of only handle Wikipedia).

Well, as I'm thinking for mobile, the stripped might be better for reading, but whichever you think work, or both as time permits. Heck, I could even see later making the 'easy character creation' version which is only character creation, traits, skills, and the gear sections. That would be great for getting new players interested, and then hook them on the full books later. I'd try it myself, but 1) I don't have the right software, and 2) Photoshop Elements will work with PDF, but not well.
