I found this browsing the interwebs today. One of the sites I was looking at asked for people to read this and to try to stop this problem before it gets a foot hold.

I don't know if its a legit problem yet... I was wondering if anyone had some expertise on this matter?
I've done some of my own research on this matter, and this is what I've found.

Suffice to say, it seems that many loop holes have been found in the world market that many businesses have been trying to patch. The main concern to the people who are worried is that this would be an excellent time for some businesses to make the push to make some of their bad business practices law.

Re: Revisions to "First Sale Doctrine"
This was only a matter of time. Digital products have long destroyed the first-sale doctrine as it applies to that field, and the game industry has been working tirelessly to eliminate it even when it comes to boxed copies of their games. The textbook industry has already been working to make it illegal to resell books, generally by releasing new editions with no valuable new material every single year and forcing schools to avoid older versions. Copyright holders have been working for a long time to extend their reach over their copyrights, both in the control they have and the time they last.
But there's a part of me that's glad this is happening. The public at large has to turn against copyright before copyright reform can occur. Or as the saying goes: "it has to get worse before it can get better". Until the masses see copyright for the outdated and antiquated mess that it is, they will retain the power they have. Once people realize just how confining copyright law is, they will turn against it.
And that would be awesome. I would love it if the next great civil rights movement after gay marriage and immigration reform (because you know those are going to happen soon enough) was intellectual liberty.

riots looking like the old copy parties in the 1980s!
Microsoft is trying to make the XB720 UNABLE to play second hand games
Bad move, imho
for a console worth, seemingly, the price of 5 new games, lots of gamers won't hesitate forsaking their warranty and have their console opened and the lock removed to allow them to play second hand games
A few weeks ago, I went to a store to resell a game, where a guy wanted to buy a game -the one I intended to sell, actually but didn't have enough to buy it
so instead of selling it -wouldn't have gotten more than five euros, if even that- I gave it to him.
when he asked me why I just told him to teach the corpo a lesson in new econnomy even if they didn't know it.
the seller was glaring at me something evil, though. he would have missed that sale anyway, so...
