*or how to make a mockery of the delicate balance of the points buy system.
I have played a couple of games of EP, I do enjoy it! The problem I had with my group is the spreading out of points and totalling up all the bits and bobs. This is something that others have noted as EP being "front loaded".
So I thought: "what if I could get character generation down as quickly as possible?" I imagined other systems, rolling dice, filling out stats and then hitting the table/solar system.
What did I do, you wonder? Well, I went for random aptitude generation. Random moxie generation. Skill points derived from COG. Traits rolled on a d4 and split between positive and negative.
NO WAIT! STOP! Don't laugh! I have a 1 page PDF with corebook page references and everything.
Why did I crucify Eclipse Phase in this manner? I wanted to get rid of the maths. I wanted new players (who may be accustomed to other systems) to be able to make a few quick choices, roll some dice and tot up the number as fast as possible.
Later, when the players are hooked on the system it will be possible to run them through a more detailed character generation with points and more informed choices. But for a post-Fall-Transhuman virgin I thought it might ease the pain.
Feel free to laugh, mock and troll as appropriate. I make no promises that it is balanced, fair or useable. But it is quick and dirty.
