I just read an interesting article from a blog called Pop Bioethics, by way of io9. It's about the Mass Effect's series portrayal of humanity as an upstart race in an essentially uncaring universe. It immediately made me thing of transhumanity's position in Eclipse Phase because it forces them to answer the same basic question, "Why assume you that you even have the right to survive?" So I thought people on these forums might enjoy the article, if they hadn't found it already.

Any thoughts? He's right in that one of science fictions attractions is it's use to explore social issues, but what do you think of the of his claim that Mass Effect truly brings the question of what makes us important to the mass market?
