Hi all,
I have been working on a big campaign concept for a while here is my take at it:
Main story Starship Constitution :
- X years pre-fall : The USA is a little battered down country, as a last ditch effort to save their cultural heritage and many other artifact from old, the US leaders send out a ship containing the US Constitution of all things.
- During the fall : The ships is lost with all hands on the other side of the Sun during the early phase of inner system exploration. No direct line of sight could be gained at that point, all pre-fall solar system monitoring satellite where considered to prone for infection anyway and destroyed preemptively. In it self Starship Constitution is a medium sized old very old tech hauler, nothing of real interest for transhuman accept it contains in it's cargo hold the entire US national and cultural treasure.
Anyone looking for influence or fame knows what to find this ship means.
Adventure break down :
- The forcker : social profiling and investigation. People are reported missing during casting or are mysteriously delayed.
@ the players should be contacted by a friend to find out what happened to is mate. They find out a fork of him wondering in an habitat after a bit of search. They should also get different rumors during the investigation, many people are missing or delayed someone hints at a forced forking event, a Forcker hunt is started, who is it and which faction?
@ The forcker is building a team to gather resources and mount a information gathering for earth destination: the last know location of Starship Constitution flight path.
@ there should be lots of interference from political power groups, Luna & Venus especially and the war of words on who is responsible is escalating.
-- Sub quest Psycked-out : during a social gathering arranged by an interested party in the forcker case, every one including the players have been spiked with a mix of the two Psi drug, ones gives a single empathy/telepathy sleight the user and also is laced with a potent psi boost.
Any one with a Psi trait will receive massive amount of pain and stress, something is wrong thre are emotion laced in there even memories. A room, a laboratory. The drugs are made from grounded MacLoed-Strain infected brains that are cloned from an original Lost being tortured killed in cycle to produce ever more potent version of the drug. Any Psi user will have to test for the extremely addictive substance but understand that this is human brain, probably one of is brother/sister from the Lost generation.
- Under a Bleuish Sky : the Destination is Ottawa, Canada, the House of Parlement, The last know civic building of the hold USA institution after the fall of Washington and the Canada-US mutual protection aggression pact (possibly the Titan take over at this point, since this aggressive union restarted many hostilities). This adventure is open sand box, the players have to come up with a solution to go down and come back up with the info and use their various network to come up with a solution, both the Forcker and the Psycket-Out quest should help develop and stimulate those network pts.
-- Sub quest White noise : during the trip on earth, the players ear strange noise coming from their equipment, voices, they tell of nothing and everything then send out a warning about a real threat to the players a nanoswarm is heading their way and the voice saves them in a very high speed chase through buildings, sewers and transit ways. Will the players risk it all to investigate the source, at the last moment the voices scream for help, they have been found out, the swarm figured they where helped, the VR is linked to an old CTV system, it's at the city hall, all the orphans of the US-Canada government are in there with their care taker? They where all low priority so low... but someone with a big heart tried.
-Also in the less important news of the day, a new Comet is discovered orbiting very close to the sun and Venus : this should be a random news during the game and yet it is the location of Starship Constitution. It crashed with the undocumented comet all hands, the crew was looking at the live feed from earth like every one during the fall and no one noticed this tiny black asteroid with an ice core, no ship system where used for this anyway all where pointed to earth to try and get in touch with those loved oned.
At this point the antagonist you created should be on the same trace as the player and the final show down should happen on the comet as the sun is making it break apart.
I will had more but after finding Starship Constitution the players should be very rich and influential if they manage to save it and this seams like enough for now!

If we're talking about the 2120s, I feel comfortable saying that the inner system will be pretty well explored (it's also a very difficult place to lose a ship in).
This sounds more like a seed ship than an exploration ship anyway. It should be second or third in a series of ships to some place that's a real 'new frontier' (and far enough away for it to get lost). Candidates like Alpha Centauri or Bernard's Star leap to mind. The first ship contains probes for gauging the environment, mapping the planet, and establishing automated refineries and factories. Second ship has a skeleton crew of explorers to establish a base camp and secure the planet for colonization. Third ship has the actual basis of the colony - diverse gene stock (of humans, plants and animals), culture, technology, and heavy manufacturing equipment. That third would be the one with the constitution on board.
Your ship can still head to the inner system, but would be doing so to leverage the slingshot effect. Yes, it adds an initial eight or nine months (or more) to the journey, but the entire trip would be several centuries, so a minor increase in speed is worth the initial cost.
If you don't want to send it way the hell out like that, I can't imagine the ship being anything more than a glorified freighter, moving its cargo to a known, already colonized destination. If so, given its cost, it still wouldn't be an "old tech freighter" (for the same reason Fort Knox doesn't transport gold in pick-up trucks). It would be cutting edge, with a few companion ships to keep it out of trouble.
I don't know what a 'forcker' is, so some of this doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Also, the ship crashing into a comet is pretty far fetched (especially one big enough to hide the entire ship). I would probably come up with a different explanation of where it went.
I feel like you have some neat scenes, but as a reader, I'm having difficulty piecing them together into a cohesive storyline. I would give some though to what the over-arching theme is here, who the antagonists are, and invest us personally in it (beyond 'the earth is going to be destroyed!') Spending the time on that will make your campaign a lot more robust and memorable.

Yeah this is the rough lines yet of the 1srt part of the campaign.
A Forcker was a word game for someone making forced copies of Egos to steal them.
I don't think that the freighter should be that nice since the US-Can Protection/Aggression pact did not live for long in my world, it was also a last ditch effort to save some stuff before the full nuclear/bio war started.
A comet can go from 750 m to about 20 km, so report suggest much more massive bodies of up too 300 km.
I could work on this, my personal flavor is not to make this too important, I am toying with another chapter or two, the next one should be the module : - Oh S#!^, this ain't the US Constitution, it's a Quantum Computer! RUN!
I am unsure if I want this to be a pacified Titan back up in an Ivory Tower. After the crash with the comet, the crew not able to cast out or make food out of nothing was doomed to die of starvation until someone tried to contact the "backup". Since this backup was not in "synch" during the latest part of the Titan uprising, it was never infected or it simply is a Promethean.
At this point the user either try to destroy it or gain an allie, the Promethean should then be introduced in a following quest or at least firewall if the AI is connected to the mesh by any of the players.
I'll think about the comments maybe I can just put the ship in the Appolos or Amor belt.

So the idea is this is an emergency ship leaving Earth as the planet is getting destroyed, not just a response to cultural and economic pressures. In which case it's more of a refugee ship than anything - and it's going to be moving to the next safe habor. You'll need a reason why that place isn't Luna (or the belt or Mars).
Indeed, but it's not like these things are hiding in holes in space waiting to jump out at you. If it's big enough to take down a freighter, it's probably big enough that it's been tracked for years. If you want to say that a comet is the 'best answer we have right now, but boy does that explanation have problems', that's one thing, but those questions need to be mentioned (and ultimately, addressed).

Well there is still lots of big objects out there not detected, especially if it does not cross any orbit directly.
If you look at most of the know belts only parts have been mapped and many have unpredictable collision creating many different orbit paths.
A comet will often times be noticed as it starts eating up and creating a trail. Else you need to have someone lucky enough to have seen a start being blocked by something then appearing again, they can then follow this shadow.
I will agree that at this point there is probably a lot of details about the solar system but with the fall, the wars and all the chaos I doubt that there is still a NASA going please change your flight path to avoid XYZ1 - Appollos...
I will consider the time frame maybe to make it more possible, the freighter is indeed an emergency ship but no it does not contain any stack, just cultural and treasures, if not a quantum computer (i.e. was a titan backup after all).
It also makes the XP vids very rough to see as the crew are ordered to leave without any one except a full load of art and materials, even the military shooting down civilians as they are trying to get on board. Xp vid of the ship will be very important in the story too, the ship could have saved thousands but not a single soul was saved because the military officer had orders of securing and saving those materials, at some point during the vid, the officer should say he does not care about the rags and pieces of crap, as he is shooting a family trying to climb on board, he just follows orders.

An interesting plot might be for it to have been a prototype starship who's technology has been lost and have it turn up as a derilect in a system that the PCs are exploring via a gate. Perhaps, with a Generational crew still alive.

what would be quite interesting is that they find a ship of unknown designs, think it's alien...until they find bodies in cryo. Human bodies.
the mind boggling enigma is that the ship is over 10,000 years old.
Could it be that the legends of Atlantis were real after all, or that a FTL capable spaceship from the future ran into trouble and was tossed in the past?

Adding more flesh to the bones - links the party, the psy drug, the forker.
First module :
The players are asked by a "widow" (Flirtatious, paranoid, aggressive) to find out if a supposedly dead husband as an Alpha fork running around having party until the marriage contracts ends and is backup is reactivated, leading in him not having to pay her any money.
She tells them she knows someone who may get them invited to one of is party, the guy owns her a favor.
The Contact (Rp). This guy is weird, (based on the Merovingian from matrix), likes XP, AR and any other odd sensations.
He is willing to help the players and is friend but there are conditions... They have to make a distraction hit somewhere so he can modify some morphs without anyone noticing. He would then put the players in the morph since those morph are planned to be at the party already... Everything is vague, he does not want to detail the morphs etc.
The players get a simple enter and recon mission but they have to insure the alarms are triggered at a point. (should be simple enough)
Once the players are finished, the Contact agrees and tells them to come back in two days. then after tow day upload them to the Morphs. Your players awake in pleasure pods, heavily modified and weird pleasure pods.

So I did run the 1st part of the campaign.
Following modifications :
- The Criminals are the ones who have provided a "loaded" morph with a basic gun to get the drug runner which is a sliterroid in my game, a copy of a guy thinking this is, his 1st mission. A single arm rigged with hidden over charged plasma gun (1 shot should create ~2 DT on the player)
- A Hyperelite socialite got a free pass for the rich (including a 2.0 with a backup and lots of gun)
- The party is a never ending loop, the players foudn the "dead" guy who is a Direct Action big head. He is going crazy from the never ending loop of killing / dying and all the trauma of the psy drug.
- a Lost of Psi 2 took the drug and made him crazy, at which point I had him "revert" to is original morph (I explained that he had for a glimpse gained total awareness dealing some big SV and giving him two questions (any), representing the knowledge in hung too)
The 1st party was a hunt through a "Amish" stile aerostat on Venus. They release all the "dolls" all those fork without the hyperelite access codes on a mixt of frenzy drug and psy booster. Making them all completely on rampage (COG+ WILL only hard to resist).
Anyway, two of my players being infected (one is a lost so McLaod, the other is a dormant "cumulated mind" taken from a head hunter drone. So both went completely barmy where the Lost just got very powerful for a few seconds then died but kept is knowledge.

Session 2
The players still in the party where able to get both cortical stack from the target and the drug runner "the slitterroid'.
The Saved guy as a heavily damaged mind. When the players tell him is wife hired them, he goes nut. Says they should not know. After a while, he gets is "secret" wife to come to a meeting in secured space. She is a Autonomist, he is a Direct Action big head. They keep it under wrap but both where working together on a secret automated hydra distribution system with the help of a pre-fall seed AI expert (our local nut job with multiple personnality).
This hydra starts as a single automated nano-faber to which you feed bleuprints. Once fed it goes sleath and automatically produces the programmed material without human intervention, be they hide outs, weapin cashe, drug production facility...
The player also figure out this "wife" is not the original contractor. She is a totally different personae, while the 1st one was using an avatar of Roger Rbbit's wife, this one uses black and white Betty Boo and if asked speak very arrogantly about collored cartoon saying they where the death of cartoons.
Did someone do bad research when coming up with the fake personnage or was it a clever ruse?
The slitterroid stack it self was nothign more then a very very pruned fork of a poor guy. He as no idea who he is, the only things he knows is this is the 1st job (it's always the 1st job)

I leave out the places and real interqction of the players and what not so you can adapt easely to your campaign too. I am a big on the fly GM, so a lot of the small tie ins are invented on the spot whiel the big story arc is a predefined out line.
Don't hesitate to tie in your players, all the evil party happend on "eco" location last time to attract my Eco oriented player, also my criminal triggered the owners of the Drug Hydra to ask for help into bringing it back in or destroying it before it goes any "bigger" or dangerous.

It is our regret to inform you that your backup as been illegally activated.
Do not be concerned, our teams are already out trying to recuperate the two morphs for termination.
It is our belief that your waranty of service as been voided. So in the last session, the players where able to find ou the asteroid with the Slitheroids and a Cornucopia machine.
The AI had a child like mind and was unaware that the test subject where the same as the people she talks too ( an intentional glitch so she could be stopped if told). Of course they told her/it what she was doing and she then destoryed the automated network, deleted herself and decompiled on the quantum computer.
The Lost of the party went crazy when he figured out that it was indeed Lost brains used as the drugs catalyst. This triggered him to shoot the quantum computer but since he was in real time those in the AVR where able to get the information from the AI in time.
They had to flee the place because the one with the criminal ties had told the crime lords where the asteroid was.
What the players know:
- they (forks of them) are on a stealth ship to earth trying to break the blocade and do a mission on earth. Find the last know flight path of the Starship Constitution...
- More then one persone used the Hydra ( the automated asteroid production facility (Fanny), automated drug delivery (Plaisure and Pain) and the automated party organisation (Max Slate) ) for their own purpose but no one actually bumped the others, all projects are parrallle of a kind and they are :
- infect all humans with the Lost plague ( a lsot stumbled on the facility once and used it for vengeances he si really mean ExHuman type)
- Produce, distrubute and organise Petal party. (Crime gangs)
- Gather usefull egos for the Earth mission. (TBD, i think it will be a fork of the groups Hacker which is a a Exurgent strain passive a bit like the McLaod strain, I want to have this strain "unique", in other words this strain as acheived awerness and fears the rest of the Exurgent strain will "reintregate" it.)
They are starting to figure one of them is a Psi and the infected players as a secret muse which is connected to a ghost rider module and as ego bridge, when the strain is too clse to the surface of is multiple personality disorder, it erases him and copies over a more "stable" version of is ego. 2 times now I gave him a glimpse of the ultimate truth but both time the muse erased him and the knowledge!!!

Last session was a blast, they went ot earth... they all died

You see very little of them at 1st, they are coverred from top to buttom in chameleon cloths and invisible cloths. They seam to move stealthy at all times. A few times the shortest fo them growled at you for making scrapping noise with your boots.
They use heavy environmental gear, not a inch is visible. Sometimes they stop for no reason you can identify, make you stear clear of things you can't identify but you do notice how nervous they sometime get.
You are tired, dead tired, twice yo guys add to do mad dash, they even let you by yourself for a full day, they told you they where sure you where a goner, you are very Lucky 7...
After what to you seam like days of walking in a totally alien enviroment, they bring you to a sort of sealed door. it is at the buttom of a dried out river bed, one says it is the Outaouais river and this is the hulk of the HMS Chicoutimie... an old diesel submarine buried. It's a safe house...
They are all uplift, two baboon, one octo and one Hominid :
