100 hours of visual data is about 857 gigabyte, assuming HDTV resolution. The bandwidth needed to keep an ego together is likely on the order of the bandwidth across the corpus callossum, which has 200 million axons firing at a rate of ~10 Hz (individual neurons can go higher, most are quiet), so a first guess might be 2 gigabit per second. That gives us about 50 minutes of function. Not much, and very expensive. This is also why nobody can afford FTL egocasting. A whole brain is at the very least many terabytes in size. Still, I like the basic idea of one ego in several morphs. In-system one could do it with normal classical communications. I would say it requires some very good SOM rolls just to keep control over the bodies doing different things. And if your morphs get more than a few hundred kilometres apart they will start having lag problems; keeping the ego together will not be possible, and depending on where it was located some morphs go into automatic.

Definitely. Short messages are the primary function for QE communication. With such expensive limitations on what can be sent, can you blame people for only wanting to send a little data at a time?
